mattress advice needed!

FH and I need to buy our first mattress/boxspring tomorrow. Does anyone have any advice on mattress shopping or any reccommendations for which mattress to buy? Also, anyone with a store reccommendation in the Forest Hills area would be really appreciated! TIA!

We just bought one the other day at Sleepys. We liked the King Koil brand, but it may be too soft for you I dont know. All I can say is haggle with them. We said we were just looking and not going to buy anything that day and its amazing how fast that price comes down. (also make sure you get delivery included for free they will always do that). HTH

Just NEVER buy a mattress from Rockaway Bedding!! I had nothing but problems with them.

We bought ours at sleepy's, and we also got money off as a 'wedding gift' (we told the salesman we were just married).

Ok- I have to tell you our mattress is the absolute BEST EVER!!!

I would tell everyone to get it, it is amazing. I can't say enough.

It is a Kings Down pillow top. Kings down has all different levels of softness, we did not get the softest. I love it.

We got an Aireloom from Sleepy's. Had horrible, horrible issues with delivery, but it is the most comfortable bed either one of us have ever slept on. They are the only company that still handmakes their mattresses and have been around forever. It's not a brand name you hear often, but there is nothing better than getting into our bed at the end of the day.

Just be careful with pillowtop and plush mattresses. The store mattresses are not on a frame, so they are lower to the ground than they will be when you get them home. We have a king size that not only takes up most of the room, but it dwarfs all of our furniture. It's like a huge, comfy island in the middle of the room.

You should never buy a bed without laying down on it. Everyone does it and most sales people will recommend it. Also, make sure if you sleep on your side, you lay down on your side, or if you sleep on your stomach, lay on your stomach, etc. to make sure that it will be comfortable no matter how you sleep.

Its probably late advice... but definitely buy as much mattress as you can afford. Meaning... don't cheap out. Get something comfortable... even if you gotta lay out the cash.

I ended up buying a $1399 king sized matress and boxspring from Seamans. Yeah im paying out the arse for it... but its soooo comfortable and worth it.

I second that. We actually had to get financing for our bed because it was uber expensive, but the good news is that we found it advertised the next day in a Sleepy's flyer for $600 less. We still needed the financing, but shouldn't have to replace our bed for the next 25 years.

we fiannced our's as well...but we went when they had 0% financing, so it's a lot easier....we pay about $50 a month and it should be done in less than a year!
TOTALLY worth it!

I have the same as sunny - the king kiol down pillow top - it is really comfy. I have it w/out the boxspring on a platform bed, so I don't know if that makes a difference. I also went to sleepy's
