Does anyone have a tempur pedic or one of those sleep number beds? Are they really expensive? Worth it?

Re: mattresses?
I have a sleepy's mattress at home that was purchased in 2002 and it's wonderful. FH's bed is bigger than mine and will be the one we use, but we're replacing his mattress with a sleepy's mattress when we move in together.

you cannot bring your own food!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my god....
and we had a traumatic incident w/ a sleep # at a hotel. chris wanted it firm, i wanted it soft. well, he had both at 100 (the highest 'firm'). he fell asleep and i was dying to adjust my side of the damn mattress. i put my cell phone over the instructions so i can read it in the dark. i follow the directions clearly and it is not getting any softer. i go to sleep. my alarm goes off in the am and i roll over to wake chris up and i literally fell into the abyss that was his side of the bed. apparently i adjusted his side to like 10 and mine was at 100. the hotel had it wired wrong. he could hardly walk that day his back was so out of whack.
and the moral of that story is : be careful. sleep #s are bad!

I don't know what to do. FH and I do not live together yet. Our mattress styles differ. I like extra firm... he wants to sleep on something super soft... I have a bad back and this would kill me! Ahhh!! I'm just going to make him sleep in the tub OR we'll get bunk beds.

Re: mattresses?
We had a sleep # at a hotel last year, I loved it and so did he. That was only 2 nights, though.
It's all I got.

We have the same prob, actually the opposite way. That is why we liked the sleep #. But, we are poor. We ended up getting a pillow top from Sleepy's. It is great because it is firm, but it has the layer of cush that I like. Have you tried those?

I introduced FH to an eggcrate (upside down) for his bed and it's been much better since. My plan is to get a new mattress ASAP when we move in from Sleepys. My mattress, my sister's and our parent's shore house mattress have all been from there and we're more than pleased with them. My plan is to get rid of FH's mattress with a Sleepy's mattress as soon as we move in together.

Re: mattresses?
I recently bought a new mattress and we tried the tempurpedic but HATED it. It feels like a horrible piece of foam.
We got a body diagnostics from sleepy's. It was 4,000 but soooo worth it.
Make sure you go with your FH. They have a computer thing you lie down on and it tells what mattress would be best for both of you.

Re: mattresses?
I love my tempur pedic. It's the best bed ever. Make sure you get the tempur pedic pillow too. Believe me it's worth every penny.
