maui and Kaui in July

I am a teacher so we are getting married and honeymooning in july or possibly August. Do you have any advice on attractions/ resteruants/inter island flights that you can share? I don't need hotel info. We are planning on flying to vegas and then on to hawaii from there. Thanks a bunch!

I am a teacher too and we are planning on making the same trip, only in the begining of August...

We are thinking of flying to San Fran- staying two nights and then off to Kuai and then Maui.

Heard lots of great things about both Hyatts there. I haven't started checking prices out yet though.

Good Luck!

I'm a teacher too! :) We headed to Maui on August 2. We didn't island hop; we plopped ourselves down on Wailea Beach (at the Four Seasons) and stayed there for 9 days. The Road to Hana was really interesting, but it's a tough drive and it was pretty tiring! Defintely stop in Paia (cute, artsy town) and hit Mama's Fish House (outside Paia) for dinner.
I wasn't wild about Lahaina. VERY touristy and busy. We definitely preferred quieter Wailea, and we stayed mostly at our BEAUTIFUL hotel!! We loved Spago (met & talked with Wolfgang Puck) and Ferraro's (perfect at Sunset; basically right on the beach) at the 4 Seasons.
On the way home, we stayed in Sonoma in Northern Cali for 4 nights, and then drove to San Fran & stayed one night, and then headed home.
I'm so jealous you're going; I cannot wait to go back!!

I also work in a school, and we are going to Hawaii in July. The only thing I am worried about is I think its going to cost more to go during the summer. I have seen some decent quotes on here, though the girls have gone off season.

Re: maui and Kaui in July

I just came back from Oahu and Kauai. I wanted to stay in Kauai. My husband and I want to move back there someday. IMO you do not need to stay in the fancy over the top hotels. We stayed in a timeshare resort that was beautiful, but we were NEVER in the room, only for sleeping and showering. I used Aloha Airlines for the inter-island flights. You can book the flight right online. It is also possible to just buy the tickets in the airport but tickets could be sold out for the flight you want and then you would have to wait.
I am going to do a long review, and I have plenty of pictures to share also, but in Kauai you should definately rent a convertable car. We drove and saw attractions on one side of the island one day and the other side the other day. You definately need the 2 days to see everything. We did a kayak/hiking adventure that lasted a whole day. That was awesome. We did a helicopter tour which was very cool. We went hiking on the Na pali coast.

We went to maui and Kaui 9-6-04 -- 9-20-04 I loved it. In maui is the shopping island, if you like to shop or just want some cute things to go home with go to Lahiana and whalers village or Paia, these are all of the shopping spots on maui. To eat in Maui i would suggest the two resturants in whalers village one is the hula grill and i don't remember the other ones name. Make sure you do Haliakala the volcano and the road to hana if you like looking at wildlife and waterfalls. The road to hana is long but it is so pretty. There is a lot to see.
On Kaui i would say go to Puipu and eat at the plantation gardens and also at kioki's. When going to these places if you love sweets order the Hula pie or baked hawii, soooooo good. Also go snorkeling, snorkel bob's is the place to go they will send you out on the four winds tour and it is so pretty. I have so much info cause i just got back if you have more questions FM me and i can give you a price breakdown and so on. I might even have so coupons for things we didn't do. I have so much stuff i just have to find it and i'll write you back. You will have a blast and cry when it is time to come home, i promise.
