Re: Maui Hotels

My friend stayed at both Hyatts and loved them. Nothing but great things to say. We chose the Four Seasons in Maui and the Hyatt in Kauai to switch it up instead of staying at two Hyatts. I have heard that the Hyatt in Kauai is nicer than the one in Maui. But either way they are both great hotels so I don't think you will go wrong.

Re: Maui Hotels

Ive stayed at both the Hyatt and the Ritz in Maui.

The Ritz is a more upscale hotel...so if you are looking for something a little more secluded and top notch service, thats the one for you. They also have an excellent breakfast buffet with fabulous coffee and waffles (and of course impecable waitstaff). That said the hotel is older than the Hyatt..or seems so. Also, its location is more out of hte way so its a little more driving time no matter where you are going.

The Hyatt is a more 'fun' hotel. The pool has a great slide. They have penguins and other animals on the grounds. The Hyatt is located not too far from a small mall area ... and is closer to the town center. That said, you will deal with a lot more kids and the hotel staff (while perfectly fine) are not anywhere near as good as the ritz staff.

Hope that helps. Either way, you'll have a great stay.

Edited to add: I thought the rooms in both the Hyatt and the Ritz were nothing special. Just regular rooms..with that sort of typical tropical decor. The beds in both places were very nice and comfortable. The Ritz had a nicer bathroom with terry bathrobes, etc.

Re: Maui Hotels

We recently stayed at the Ritz, and I agree with Sonicstef's comments. We actually stayed on the club level, which was great b/c it essentially included breakfast and lunch, as well as snacks...

(We did not go to the Hyatt, so I can't comment on that hotel).

We looked at the Ritz and the Hyatt - our travel recomended the Hyatt over the Ritz.

Another thing - the beaches at both Hyatt and Ritz have problems.

The beach at the Hyatt is right next to the pool so its very convienent...but its also not a great swimming beach IMO. (but the pool more than makes up for it)

The beach at the Ritz is a little bit of a walk away from the pool but its a nicer beach for swimming IMO.
