May be a dumb Ques., RE: PROCESSIONAL

HELLO LADIES!! I'm curious to know how all of you are walking down the aisle. Particularily those being escorted by a dad, a grandfather, brother or any other special guy! (I specified because I know a Jewish Ceremony is usually BOTH parents).

I had ALWAYS thought and ALWAYS have seen the bride walk down the aisle on her escort's LEFT arm.

I was told this weekend, that that is ABSOLUTELY NOT true according to 'the books' and that the bride walks down on her escort's RIGHT arm.

Now I looked in a book I have at home and it says the bride walks down on the escort's RIGHT arm (as I was told), but today I checked a book I have here and it says the opposite.

SOOO... Now I'm confused...

Lauren - I too have only seen it done where the bride uses the left arm of her father/brother/grandfather/relative since usually the left side of the church is for the bride's side- that's the way I am doing it since I am getting married in a church. INTERESTING!

Thanks ladies, I am too walking down on the left as my family will be on my left...

Liz, no I didn't ask my Deacon. I just always assumed that it was the LEFT side. This conversation came up during Easter, so I figured I'd check with the Wedding Professionals of LIW!

Way back in time, the bride always walked on the man's LEFT side, so that his right arm would be free to draw his sword should they be attacked. (Most people are right-handed).

Naturally, I'm walking on my Dad's left, since they really ARE carrying swords at my wedding!!!
