May Book Mediterranean Manor???.... reviews of venues we saw
After about two months or maybe less of looking at some RH my fw and I have been seriously discussing this topic now that the law passed for same-sex marriage :)
As a lot of you have been reading in my posts my father has not been helpful and our budget is very low. Thankfully my FW parents are willing to help however we also need to come up with about 5,000 on our own. This is why I have been favoring the RH with packages. There are not many out there which has been a problem! My budget has to include all the favors, invitations, ect... everything that goes into the wedding. I am not going to go OVER THE TOP lol but I don't want to skimp either! I am hoping the few things like my cake topper, candle ect.. people will buy for my bridal shower. That will help us tremendously!
Venues we visited are:
1. Watermill- I did not like that there are two weddings at a time and the price that they gave us was for a January wedding or a Thursday. Most of my friends work with me at the day care center and this would not work for us. I also did not like the small room that we would get (don't know the name of it) but I did love the chapel, the outside cocktail area though. But if it rained (praying it doesn't) I don't like the split cocktail room...
2. Ariana Waterfall- hated the area of it since most of my friends live out in suffolk it would be a drive for everyone. The place was very small to me and the girl that showed us around forgot her name was mocking us on our disney theme wedding. However the price was amazing and what you get for the package was great, but I did not like the cocktail room and they only give you 15 minutes to get married so very rushed!
3. Brentwood Country Club- I see that alot of brides on here liked it, but for some reason I didn't. The guy said that people can still play gulf when your wedding is taking place and that is a problem for me. I also did not like how the workers were speaking to each other and the guy that showed us around was very rude and rushed. He may have gotten the impression we didn't like it, but still! He gave us short answeres and was just rude.
4. Larkfield Manor- to expensive I did not go but my fw did., She said that it was nice, but the price they quoted was way out of our budget.
5. Miller Place Inn- grew up in Miller Place and it is right next to where I went to school for Middle school and elementary. However, this place is very rundown and needs to be updated. First of all they stained the doors and neglected to inform us of this and my FW got it all over her hands and shorts. The guy was really nice though and helped clean her up but still that was our first impression lol... Second I hated that you walked right into the cocktail room! There is no entrance way or anything just that small hallway with the dirty couch. Third the outside gardens are very small and right on 25A. If we were to get married outside all you would hear is cars zooming by. The reception room was nice and the guy was really trying to sell his venue because he said if we brought in ANY quote that was cheaper then his he would match it and then give us more. My FW really liked this idea and wanted to go with them, but I did not fall in love with it and I did not see myself getting married there :(
6. Shoreham Country Club- this is a place where you have to bring in your own food its like a hall. My friend recommend them to me since she had her wedding there very low budget. However, there is no bridal suite and you literally have to do EVERYTHING on your own! It is right on the beach so that is very nice, but there is only one room and it only holds 175 so its small. The bathroom was small and the dance floor needs to be redone. There is a giant hole in the floor. The grounds around the building also need to be redone, the downstairs area is very outdated and dirty.
7. Vina De Villa- aka pine hollow inn we were suppose to go see tonight but I am sick. My mom said that it is in a bad area but so is Med Manor. They also have packages and my other friends got married here. By the pictures the room where you get married looks small. But I need to see it in person!
FINALLY Med Manor was the second place we saw! I did not like the area that it is in and that it is right on the main road. The other thing I don't like is that there is really not outside grounds to take pictures, but they do have a nice waterfall, bridge ect.. The entrance way is really nice it has a staircase for pictures and a piano. You just don't walk right into the main rooms! The cocktail room is gorgeous with the different lights and it is HUGE! They offer a lot for your buck and since we are so low on funds the package works great. I already researched their offered vendors and they all got top picks from liwedding which made me feel better. However I would need to find out how much it would be to tweak some things like adding a video to the package and upgrading the photos. However they quoted us for 150 people a little over 16,000 but since we have been talking we may cut it down to 125 or even 100 depending on everything We have to guarantee 100 I think but i'm not sure.
But before I make a 2nd appointment with tme I wanted your advice to make sure I did not skip any RH that fit our budget. We are looking to get married at the end of May or any Friday in June. We are going for a Friday wedding I think not 100% sure yet at Med manor the price is the same for a Friday Night, Saturday Day and Sunday wedding. I don't know which I want yet lol that is my next hurdle.
So girls advice??? comments??? opinions??? sorry so long!!!![]()
