i dont want to get into it right now....b/c it's a lot to explain and it makes me upset to think about......but....i am SO in love with my wedding gown....but....i may have to start looking for a different one! i just met with my seamstress last night. she does great work and is VERY experienced in working with high end gowns....but i think after meeting with her i am realizing that my dress may not be 'the one'. although i am SO in love with it at the same time. i am not 100% sure on my decision...but it is a possibilty ....so my plan is to start looking again this weekend just in case. right now i am just looking for some support....i will get into the details at another time.
i just added pics and a bit of an explanation below.... (i know i said i wasnt going to get into it, lol....i guess talking about it helps a little)
UPDATE....ok, i went dress shopping again today....i found one today that i really loved, it's a different style...a little more of a ballgown (but it might really be a-line its hard to tell). the bodice has beading that is similar in color to the fabric so it dosnt 'stand out' as much as the silver beading...and the skirt is a sattiny material with beading along the bottom edge. i really fell in love with the dress right away it stood out on the hanger and it looked and felt great on! so it is a possibility. and i have a feeling it will go well with my great grandmothers veil which i was thinking about using. my plan is to get my original gown shipped to me from seamstress and then make my decision from there. i will try it on again at home and then try to make a decision. if i decide to keep my original dress i might look into finding a different seamstress. i feel much better today about everything. i know there are definately other dresses out there that i like, so it's just a matter of deciding between one of those and my original 'the one' i wish i had pics from today, but i will be sure to keep you girls updated

BUT....the dress obviously was not taken up in that pic! like i said...these pics make me question the ress. the pics i posted before that make me LOVE the dress! of course i am my own worst critic

you look beautiful in your dress...but i think you do need to look around.
maybe you didn't look around enough before deciding? looking around at this point will only have too conclusions...you will either find something else you love that you don't have to worry about, or you'll realize there is nothing out there you could possibly love more than your dress, and that it is worth the alterations.
good luck, i know it must be hard but i'm sure it will work out for the best either way.

I'm sorry Is it that your seamstress can't alter it? Maybe this is meant to be and you'll find a dress you love even more!
well....it has spaghetti straps on it....i wanted them removed and when i told her she was surprised. she said that since the top is not really a corset that it will need to be taken in a lot (which i expected)....but....i am just nervous that it wont hold me up! and my dress is so intricate with all the detail and beading on the top and around the bottom of the skirt that the alterations will be well over $1000 . (thats not even with bustle) which i dont mind paying if i was sure how it would look on me in the end...but i am just worried that i will spend that much and still be 'unsure' and then really regret it! i know that there are many dresses out there that i could be happy with and not 'somewhat worried about' ......i just dont know.... my mom says i am worrying too much and that is is gorgeous and will be fine....but, i just dont want to worry this much about my wedding gown!
if the seamstress says she can do it then trust her...ive seen miracles done so dont worry...also dont worry about the top not holding up, MJDOC12 posted what they did for her wedding dress and shes already married so it worked...its these two small hooks they put on the inside and attach to your bra and it doesn't move...if you love this dress that much then work with it...good luck

im confused because lots of strapless dresses arent corsets?? i was just having this discussion today about how important a great tailor is.. also over a 1000 seems pretty steep.. i feel like for what you want to to..it def can be done.. and probably for a lot less.. let me know if you want the name of a few tailors.. i would def ask around.. if you love the dress (which you should it looks amazing on youu) then you should stick with it..
07 crashing I agree!!! get another proce quote!!! They are robbing you with that alteration quote!!! That dress should not need that much work in alterations. The whole front panel of my dress needed to be re-done to fit my chest. They made a whole new frnt panel and sewed the beads back on by hand and the alterations were only $200 for that. What I had done to my dress waw way more intricate than you need. My seemstres is in CT though! You should defenitely be able to get a better quote here on the island. HTH

its beautiful dress!!!!! see if you can get a quote from somewhere else.. and about it not staying up.. ask if they can sew in an elastic piece.. its like a thick bra strap sewn into the dress.. alot of the strapless dresses i tried on had this built in it was like a built in corset!! it totally did the job!!

well, i think the reason it was so expensive is that to take it up on the bottom, she has to cut around all the beading and reattach it. (the bottom of the dress and train is all lined with lots of beadwork.) and to take it in, a lot of the beading will need to be redone. the top has tons of beading and is very intricate. and i you remove some beads the other ones around then automatically get loosened...so it is a big job. i know the price was prob. a little steep, the seamstress is located on central park west which already screams but i feel really comfortable with her doing the job since she is so experienced with work like this and does it all the time. i am open to possibly look for another seamstress, but my prob is i dont have a whole lot of time to be running around. and, this seamstress still has my dress (which obviously i can get back i i change my mind). like i said before though...the $ is not even what bothers me so much...it's just i dont want to go through having everything done and then being unhappy bc THEN it would just turn into a waste of $. (which i dont want....no matter how expensive or inexpensive the job is)

why don't you try really hard not to think too much about it for a week or two, then come back to it again and see how you feel. maybe taking a break from trying to make a decision will make you feel a little better and you'll either decide to start looking at other dresses, decide to meet w other seamstresses, or decide that this lady is the one, this dress is the one, and you should go for it.
i know whatever you decide you will be happy with. but sometimes when i'm caught up in something and i think about it too much, i lose sight of what i really want. for me i know it helps to take a step back and that usually clears the air and helps me realize how i really feel.
