I have been thinking about having an MC... So I was wondering:Are you booking an MC? Why or why not? Do you have any 'MC Criteria'?

I'm having a one man dj/mc. He's AWESOME. I went with Phil from after hours. He just has an awesome personality and he was so much fun!!Ask your DJ company to see some videos of them MC-ing a wedding to help make your decision!

I'm also having a one man dj/Mc. My dj's wife works with my mom so I just automatically went with him. If I had to choose my own I might consider an Mc.

We're having a one man DJ/MC because we're trying to keep our costs down as much as possible. We also hate it when we're at a wedding and the MC is walking around telling everyone to get up. We have a pretty rowdy crowd so I don't really think we need it.

We're having an MC but only so the DJ can do his thing without distractions (ie song requests, making announcements). Our MC has the 'non-cheese' factor and totally aggreed with us with keeping his announcements to a minimum. See if the MC can work with your guys style. Maybe you want a lot of energy or kind of laid back. A good MC should be able to adjust his own volume.

HAHAHAHA Nikole you crack me up!!!I am planning to have a band. BUT I've been to a few weddings with MCs, and I think they're fine...when they're not being super cheesy. I was at a wedding a few years ago where no one was dancing (it was pretty much an older crowd), and the MC got to the point where he was basically begging people to get on the dance floor. As long as the MC isn't doing THAT, if you can spare the expense, go for it!!

I think an MC is necessary. They get everyone up and dancing. My DJ said he could do it on his own with no MC, but it's usually a bit difficult for him to keep up with what's going on and still do his job.At our e-party, we did not have an MC - everything was great, but it was a little touch we would have liked.
