I like the idea of having an MC. But that is my opinion.

No MC for me. We are having about 150 guests. If you have a good DJ and a good Banquet/Hall Manager to coordinate things I don't think you need an MC. Our DJ will handle the MC duties of announcing dances and people. I didnt want an MC pulling people on the dance floor or getting involved.

the only reason you would need an mc is if both sides of your family need motivation to get up and shake their booty's...personally we're not using one because both our families are big partiers so its not necessary for us to spend the extra money

Deciding on an MC is a personal decision. Objective considerations however are your crowd - are they the partying dancing type of crowd, or are they the stick in the mud wallflower crowd? If they are the former I don't think an MC is necessary. If they are the latter, will an MC really make a difference? As in, some people, like my FH will not get up and dance no matter what. MC, no MC, doesn't matter, the only time he will get out of his chair at someone's wedding is to get a drink or use the facilities.

For me, and MC is used when you have the kind of crowd that will get out on the dance floor if someone motivates them to do so, but not otherwise.

That said, we are not using one. My crowd is pretty much split between the party goers and the wallflowers. For the ones that will dance if properly motivated, I believe that the bride being out on the dance floor having a good time is all the motivation they need.
