McDonald's (and Starbucks!)

OK Sasha's (SomethingBlu) post on sweet tea at mcdonalds prompted me to look up all the other stuff that McDonalds offers outside of NY. I kind of wish we had saimin on our menu (not that I really go to McDs that much)!

Regional U.S. items

McDonald's.Crabcake: exclusive to Delaware and nearby areas.

Lobster Roll: exclusive to New England (see McLobster below).

Tillamook ice cream: a Northwest exclusive.

Touchdown Burger: a Wisconsin exclusive.

Johnsonville Brats: a Wisconsin exclusive.

Green Chile: a New Mexico exclusive.

Texas Homestyle Burger: a Texas exclusive.

Cajun McChicken Sandwich: occasionally produced in Southern regions, it is a standard McChicken sandwich with Cajun spices mixed into the breading on the chicken portion.

Hawaii franchises offer saimin on their regular menu. SPAM or Portuguese sausage with eggs and white rice is offered on their breakfast menus. Pineapple and taro pies have also been occasionally offered on the regular menu, and pineapple is also sometimes available as an additional topping on burgers.

Re: McDonald's

oh these are cool too!

In certain parts of Asia, Fish McDippers is sold on the menu. It is pieces of breaded fish with dipping sauces. When the item was introduced, it had special dipping sauces such as Thai sweet chilli sauce and wasabi. This two dipping sauces have since been discontinued.

In the Philippines, McDonald's sells spaghetti (to compete with local fast food franchise Jollibee), which is called, unsurprisingly, McSpaghetti.

In Taiwan and Singapore, McDonald's has introduced fan kao (literally 'baked rice'), a burger-like entree with rice patties in place of buns. It is modeled on the eponymous product of McDonald's Japanese rival, MOS Burger.

In Switzerland McDonald's serves mini calzone, a kind of stuffed pizza.

In Greece, a favorite local sandwich is the Greek Mac, consisting of two burger patties wrapped in a pita with yogurt sauce, tomato slices, iceberg lettuce and onions.

Re: McDonald's

so RANDOM! I'm not surprised that Hawaii franchises incorporate spam into their menus but I'm oddly curious about the overseas offerings. McLobster kind of scares me.

Re: McDonald's

Yes random There are more here Click Me - I actually find it so interesting how the menu is different all over the place. I wish McDonalds and all the fast food places here would mix it up a bit!

In Poland the drive thru at the McDonald's is called a McDrive. That just amuses me.

Wasn't Starbuck the first mate or something? Haha - I guess they didn't want a whaler guy on the logo - so mermaid it was

Re: McDonald's (and Starbucks!)

When I was in Europe, they had fishstick happy meals (I was SO happy), and the happy meals toys were incredible.

Also, they served beer, and happy meals came with sandwich(fish sticks in my case), fries, drink, and ice cream
