Me not too happy: UPDATE

Original post by LatinaVix

So.. I get home yesterday and FH is sitting on the couch with this COMPLETELY BLANK look on his face.. Holding a piece of mail.. Hmmmm So I ask.. What's the matter?? He holds up the card with all it's pretty colors.. Save the date.. His sister's getting Married My 24, 2009 in New Mexico... Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

*******************UPDATE*****************************
FSIL called to see if we had received the STD and to ask me to be a bridesmaid.. I told her about our date and she felt HORRIBLE and offered to change her date... I know she's not as well off as we are, so basically we're going to change our date and spare her the agony.. My RH has dates available still for the summer and he will keep the same price.

How do you guys feel about a Friday night wedding? Or a Sunday afternoon? I'm thinking of July only because next year I get the month of July off with pay so I can do all of my last minute running around in peace and without having bridezilla moments around my co workers..LOL It will also give us a little over a month to recop from FSIL's wedding..

What do you think??

OMG... what the hell...did she know ur date already? why would she do that

Re: Me not too happy

She didn't know our wedding date... That's why I'm not really bent out of shape... I'm sure I'll have other BRIDEZILLA opportunities though.. LOL

FH also brought to my attention that it may work to our benefit since we'll have an extra month or so we may be able to afford some of the 'extras' that we weren't going to be able to have initially...

Ohhhh! I don't think I 'got' that part of your message (although I'm sure you said it). OK - I get it. That is too bad - I'm sorry your surprise date didn't work out. It's disappointing but you seem very calm - that's a great quality to have for wedding planning

the great thing about weddings is that they are always beautiful no matter what the date!

I'm calm NOW... I did my kicking and screaming in the shower last night with the radio on.. Then I went to bed and FH Complimented on how happy he is that I'm being so 'calm, cool & collected' about the situation..

Re: Me not too happy

you have a good sense of humor!

I had a similar situation....I got a STD for the date I had planned.
I pushed mine back just one week, and now all of those relatives say they won't come anyway because the events are too close.

I like your style!

Wow I would've been a crying mess lol! But would probably get a consolation prize atleast
Wtg on your coping skills!!! Atleast she did it ahead enough so that you still have time to reschedule everything.
GL on the planning!

How did she not know your wedding date?

Are you sure all your vendors that you have already booked will be able to accomodate you? its very nice of you to be changing your date.

I had a friday night wedding and thought it was great. I had always wanted a friday night and never realized it was cheaper- so that turned out well! LOL. No one complained to me so as far as I know it didn't bother anyone.

We haven't told anyone about the date. I was going to let people know when they received the STD's from us. I'm big on just trying to do things alone as much as possible.. Both of our families are HUGE and too many cooks (or wannabe cooks) spoil the pot... She was just trying to surprise everyone and figured that would be a good date because of the long weekend.

My only worry about Friday night is people having to take off early from work. I have alot of family in the city & upstate.

Re: Me not too happy: UPDATE

were having a Fri night wedding. church at 3 cocktails at 6 and reception at 7.
It will be fine. besides any out of towners will be at the ceremony/church since they will already be here and most people would be willing to either leave early or take a day off for a 3 day weekend in the summer. its no big deal to me. I think it would work out fine.

Hey! I think July is great... matter of fact that is when I am getting married. I would have prefered a Friday night but I ended up with a Sunday evening since it was $20pp cheaper and I cold then afford the RH I wanted.

Either one will be great though!!!

I am glad its all working out for you!!!

Re: Me not too happy: UPDATE

I am getting married on friday night and so are friends of ours. I am happy with our choice. I know a few people are unhappy about the traffic situation but quite frankly I don't care. (our church is in westbury and our RH is in Port Jeff). There is a large enough time difference between the two so people can check into our hotel in the meantime if they prefer.

You are being the bigger person by changing your date, i think that is very nice of you, and i agree you will have that extra month or so to prepare

Trust me time flies, and it goes by so fast you will be thankful you have that extra time

Re: Me not too happy: UPDATE

That is really weird that you both would pick the same date without knowing that the other had picked it!!!! It sounds like you handled the situation really well, much better than most. Whenever you have it, it will be wonderful
