Meat Snatcher (1017BRIDE!!!!)

1017Bride, it's your day!!!



Ketkrókur or Meat Snatcher (23rd Dec.) is the 12th Yule Lad to make his journey down from the mountains. Upon coming to a dwelling, he first climbs up onto the roof above the kitchen. Ketkrókur has thoughtfully brought along a long, hooked pole which he then eases down through the chimney. With amazing prowess, he proceeds to steal the smoked meat hanging from the rafters - sometimes even reaching all the way down into the pot for the smoked lamb that was traditionally boiled on this day! He is also sometimes known as Meat Hook!


Now get out there and get your pie hooks into some meat, but don't get yourself mixed up with Sausage Snatcher!

That's right, hold on to your meat products, (although sausage is safe!) because I am going out snatching today. .
