Does anyone have a good Meatball Recipe? Not exactly sure what else to use besides the ground meat

Re: Meatball Recipe
I don't measure anything just kind of eyeball it. Chopmeat, chopped garlic, bread crumbs, egg, parsley, parmesean cheese maybe oregano - mush together, rollinto balls and then fry. Love them right out of the pan while hot but mostly add them to sauce.

Re: Meatball Recipe
This is a REALLY good one.
1 package ground turkey 1 package veal/pork/beef mixture 1/2 tsp of red pepper flakes 1 tablespoon of fresh rosemary salt pepper 1 egg 1/4 cup milk and about 2 cups of Italian breadcrumbs- add gradually so you don't have too much breadcrumbs.
roll into balls- cook in oven at 400 degrees until brown- then drop in sauce.

Re: Meatball Recipe
Meghan, I only make meatballs when I have time to make them like my Italian momma! Sometimes I use meat and sometimes turkey. I throw in a lot of breadcrumbs, one egg, salt, pepper, oregano, parsley, and whatever else I feel like throwing in. I put at least one jar of sauce into a pot (maybe more depending on how many meatballs I made), throw the meatballs in (add sauce if you can't cover the meatballs in what is already in the pot) and cook them in the sauce on low heat for about three hours. Stir every 15 - 20 minutes so that nothing sticks to the bottom of the pot.

Easy no fuss meatballs...
Italian seasoned Bread crumbs, one egg and a little milk. (the milk makes it more moist) Add other spices as desired.

Re: Meatball Recipe
Here's how we make them...no exact measurements, sorry
remove crust from day-old Italian bread and discard. Break the crustless bread into shreds. You'll need about a cup.
soak bread in milk (use enough to wet it thoroughly). squeeze bread until it's moist but not dripping.
combine milk soaked bread in a bowl with 1 lb of ground beef (or mix of ground beef, veal and pork), 1 egg, some parsley, grated cheese, garlic powder, pinch of salt and pepper
mix well with your hands
roll into balls. if you plan on frying them before adding to sauce, you can roll them in breadcrumbs.
While the family agrees on the above, the great debate is what to do next...
My mom fries the meatballs in a skillet with a drop of olive oil. She browns on all sides then adds them to her gravy.
My friend's Italian grandma bakes the meatballs til slightly brown then drops them in the gravy pot.
My sister adds the meatballs raw to her pot and lets them cook with the gravy.
DH made faces at first when I told him...but now he loves them...

Re: Meatball Recipe
I am never allowed to give out the secret Sunday gravy recipe...but the meatballs are my own!!!
I used the beef, pork and veal mixed ground package. Bread crumbs - unseasoned. Parsley (a lot), 1 egg, garlic salt, tons of grated parmesan cheese, salt and pepper...and the secret....a big tablespoon of fresh ricotta!
I fry until brown all sides and add to sauce.

Re: Meatball Recipe
I used Becky's recipe (for the most part). I baked them for about 20 minutes and then put them in the sauce but I thought they were a little dry. Next time I will just put them in the sauce and let them simmer and I will add the spoonful of riccotta cheese like Jenny said! You girls are all so great, Thanks again!!

Re: Meatball Recipe
I made ss202's recipe last night and they came out great. Instead of the garlic powder, I used fresh garlic. They were so good. FH was happy. I loved the idea of dipping them in milk. Usually I had just wet the bread with water, but they came out so much better using the milk. Thanks for the recipe!!!!
