Media Bias

Media Bias

Do you think most media in gneral has bias one way or the other? Also, what news sites in aprticular do you see as baised one way or another, or less biased?

Fox News: HUGE Conservative bias
NYT: Liberal Bias
CNN: Slight conservative bias, if anything, but pretty good, as I see it.

LIW: anti-lizard bias

ETA: This sin't meant to be incendiary, as in you know, where you get your news isn't good enough. but I'm curoous about what people think, and how it affects how they get news, and also, if everyone points to one outlet and says it's virtually unbiased, then that may be a good place to get news from. I'm also curious about whether people know or realize that what they're reading or seeing is baised in a aprticular direction. I read the NYT daily, but I know that in general it tends to have a liberal bias, although the opinions it posts come from boht sides equally, and they have written editorials admitting to taking the liberal side, when they feel they have. They apologized for not acknowledging the conservative viewpoint as much when they reported on the same sex marriage conroversy.

Re: Media Bias

No matter what - liberals will see some media machines as conservative and conservatives won't see the same ones as conservative. And vice versa.

IE: Fox News - other media machines have reported it as being very conservative in it's reporting. Yet my ultra Conservative aunt and uncle 'in law's' think it's not. They think CNN is extremely liberal. I think it's a little, but not too much (I'm more liberal than conservative).

As I see it, I think Daily News is liberal and the Post is conservative.

Others might think different. Depends on your POV.

I think most, if not all of the media is biased one way or another.

DH and I have a similar argument all the time. I was a journalism student and firmly believe that the function of the media is to report the news fully and fairly, and as unbiased as possible.

He believes the media has a right to report an opinion. I told him there are pages dedicated to that kind of thing - the op/ed pages - and opinions belong there, not on the front page!!!

Re: Media Bias

In general I feel like MSNBC and CNN are pretty good - not too biased...I tend to use them as some of my sources.

But I definitely definitely definitely feel that FOX and The POST are totally super conservative!! All you had to do was open the POST last Wednesday the morning after the VP debate. I feel like most news organizations reported on it being a draw...yet all debate articles in the POST had Cheney wiping the floor with Edwards.

The only news show (or paper) I've found that is unbiased (for the most part) is the Daily Show....a fake news show

I think the Daily Show is the best show on tv (until 24 comes back on) but John Stewart is not being quiet about who he's voting for.
