Re: Medieval (Camalot) Theme?
Yep! That's me. We're having a Medieval/Camelot theme wedding in 26 days!!!!!
I can tell you anything you need to know...or at least try.
One word of advice before you get started, though. Planning a theme wedding is NOT like planning a regular wedding. Not only to you have to put an amazing amount of creative thought into it, LOTS of searching and shopping and trying to find the right accessories for your theme, BUT.....it's also much more expensive. If you're still set on having one, then go for it!
So many people are into our wedding, that we have people coming to see the ceremony who aren't even on the guest list!! They just want to check out our clothes and stuff. Too funny! Even the staff at the Riviera wrote our wedding down in their personal date planners, and some of the staff are volunteering to work that day, just so they can see everything. It's great!

Re: Medieval (Camalot) Theme?
Thanks, I appreciate any suggestions!!eI would have loved to do it all in costumes, I even looked into wedding gowns by Pucchi and Mary's Brides but I felt guilty about having to have my guests have to spend extra money on costumes. However, I am tring to make it a Regal wedding, more along the lines of the King and Queen Era. I am planning of using alot of candels and less flowers where possible. Can you discribe your invitation? I looked into the scrolls and was quoted $1000 for 89 invites!!!

In a mailing tube, which I was extremely worried about, but the post office explained to me that if I bring them there for them to do, there is less of a chance that any of them would not make there destination.. The cost is only .80 an invite to mail, I thought it would be so much more..

Re: Medieval (Camalot) Theme?
That's not too bad! We were originally considering an Elizabethan theme, but with only 8 months to plan we decided it would be impossible to coordinate & have the dresses and tuxes done- so now it is a '20's & 30's' style wedding!
---> 2Untamed - go to google.com and type in Medieval weddings, there are a lot of links that can help you. Also, a friend of mine had a regualr dinner party that was medieval themed and she did some cool stuff, like large pillar candles on candelabras and faerie place cards. Also ask the coordinator at Oheka - they do a lot of Medival themed weddings. Good Luck

Re: Medieval (Camalot) Theme?
My friend bought them online somewhere - www.pasttimes.com i think. it is just a small notecard with different faerie designs in medieval patterns on it. (a faerie is a particular style seen in medieval celtic art, as opposed to a fairy, which is more modern)

Re: Medieval (Camalot) Theme?
There is a place to rent costumes for the BP and you and a place to get trumpets to play as you enter the room and leave it, both in the book City Wedding by Joan Hamburg. I think they're located on long island.

Re: Medieval (Camalot) Theme?
Thank you for the info. I chose not to do custumes, but my bridal party just picked out their dresses this weekend, and by chance they are very traditional looking. Two peices, with a halter top. The top is a square neck and stapes wide enough for them to use regualr bras. The dressed have beading (Silver) along the waist, the neck area and the stapes. Very Regal looking, the color is Platinum. My Maton of Honor (my mom) chose a Navy Blue dress with silver beading also. And my dress is also has silver in it. By chance we will all be coordinated. I originally wanted them in a deep yellow or gold, and wanted every thing in the hall to be in the yellow and cream colors inclucing the flowers. But now I will have to re-think everthing. It tuned out better this way. Thank you for your suggestions.

Re: Medieval (Camalot) Theme?
Okay.....here we go.......pics of some of my stuff so far. Ready?
Here is a picture of our invitation. Our names are different, and our type style is Old English in black, but at least you get the idea of the picture...
My flowergirl (flower fairy) dress. Her dress will be all white, instead of having a blush skirt like the pc. The flowers and leaves are the same as the pic. She will be wearing wings.

Re: Medieval (Camalot) Theme?
Picture of the Riviera inside... the dark woods give it an 'old world' feeling.
My color theme is dark purple (the color of royalty). Here are the BMs dresses. They will be carrying Bo-Ks of dark purple lisanthus, green hydrangeas, lavendar roses, and a touch of ivy. They will also be wearing wreaths of flowers on their heads. I've added a very fine silver cord and wrapped it around the black cord belt. It dresses them up more and will tie them into the groomsmen.

Re: Medieval (Camalot) Theme?
Here is what my FH will be wearing. The one in the pic on the model is black and green. His will be all black. The groomsmen will wear the same, only without the studs on it. They are called 'doublets' and are being custom hand-made for us. You can also buy these 'off the rack' but they tend to be of lesser quality and fabric. These are made for each GM and my FH according to their measurements. They will be carrying swords, too!
