Meeting with DJ's?

I just sent out e-mails to about 6 DJ's checking to see if they had my date available and asking for quotes. After the initial contact by phone/email did you meet with DJ's in person? I did this with my photo/video vendors, but I wasn't sure if DJ's typically do this as well.

I met with the DJ in person, I wanted to get a feel for him.

We did because I wanted to know what he was like in person. I think its extremely important.

Yes met with DJ in person. We wanted to get a feel for the company and see what they had to offer. I also feel like it's easier to talk about prices in person to try to get the best deal.

We had a meeting to go to his office but then landed up going and meeting him at a showcase which was even better because I got to see him in action

We also met with the DJ's in person. Since you are counting on them to get the job done, its really important to get to meet them ahead of time, listen to what they offer and create a relationship.

I met with 4 DJs in person to see how we clicked with them and I'm glad I did. One of the companies I was dead set on based on recommendations and then when we met with him, his personality just did not mesh with us.

I did the same as the girls. The DJ/MC sets the right tune in your reception and I would hate to hire someone who doesn't have my guest on the dancefloor all night. Your flowers the guest will forget, the photography could be edited but the Dj makes or breaks your wedding!

I would, there are some djs on here that I feel if I would've booked off of recommendation and not met with in would have been very disappointed on my wedding day. Some even have showcases for you to attend and see them in action.

Unless there's a specific MC or DJ that you already know and are familiar with (from past events or past parties), it really is a good idea to sit down and meet with them! Some DJ/MC's will show you videos and clips showing their work and you can pick who you want at your event. Like the other girls said, it's a good idea to see who you click with :)
