Meeting with our church next week!
Before I woke up this morning, my fiance already called our church (St. Anthony's in Oceanside) and scheduled a meeting with them about our wedding! Yay!!!! Now I just have to wait until next week! This is the FIRST real meeting we're having about our wedding, so I'm super excited! I hope they can work with us for a December 2014 wedding! I really have my heart set on this church because my fiance has been a member of the parish since he was born, and his parents were married there too!
Lots of history there, and I'm hoping to continue the family tradition with our wedding now! Can't wait!!

Congrats on your first major appointment!I don't want to get your hopes up, but I really don't think you'll have a problem getting the date you want at your church. While it's true that a lot of churches do book up to two years in advance (happened at my church so that we couldn't get the time we wanted), you're also getting married at a less popular time of the year. The church will probably be decorated REALLY pretty too! Good luck and I hope you get the date you want!

Re: Meeting with our church next week!
Thanks Lori! Once we decided on a December wedding, the first thing I thought of was how beautiful the church was going to already look bc of the holidays, which also means less decorations to pay for! LOL :) I'm hoping the less popular time of year will help us get a nice date too, so we will see what happens. I'm just so excited - the wedding planning is so REAL now!!

I have to call the church this week too. I'm hoping the chances of them being booked are slim but you never know!

Meeting with our church next week!
That is so exciting. We knew right away where we were going to get married. The chapel where his mother and father got married as well as his grandparents. He also went to school there as did his mother and aunt! The church has so much family history I couldn't imagine anywhere else :)

The church was a huge hurdle for me because my FH isn't from the island and I did not want to get married at my parish. The only reason we were turned away at a few was because we weren't members, but if you are a member they will get you in! Good thing to book this early, we booked ours around the 2 year mark as well. Good luck!

Meeting with our church next week!
I have gotten mixed answers from various people I have asked but is it better to book the church first or the venue first. I'm unsure what to do first.

First of all, I just LOVE your name!!!
I thought it would be best to book the church first because I wanted to get that set in stone so that we already had a set date when we stated looking for reception halls. Also, I feel like everyone got engaged this Christmas!! So I also wanted to make sure we had a head start on booking the church before all of the December dates filled up (we want a December 2014 wedding). Once we set the date with our church, it's just a matter of matching up with a venue we like that's also available - and to me, that seems easier than the other way around
HTH, and good luck!

Meeting with our church next week!
Ahhh ok thanks for the info. I'll look into my church before hand then. Just to be safe. I thought the church would be more easier to book but then I guess nor since they can only accommodate one wedding at a time.Welcome New Vendors
