Meeting with RH tonight *UPDATE*
I have a meeting @ my Reception Hall to go over about a bajillion things I have questions on. I sent them an e-mail with all my questions 2 weeks ago so I really hope they have answers for me. Some of these things are very specific (like exact room dimensions) and others are just about general policy.
But alot of these things have been running through my mind. I am meeting with the person who will be my maitre 'd. I just really hope they've ready the e-mail and don't give me the run-around. I'm already having doubts about my venue because of the level of customer service I have received so far. I really hope they come through or I might be asking for a refund on my deposit.
LONG UPDATE: So I met with Christian our Maitre 'D and I am so unbelievably excited. it started off rough but Fh and I were very happy when we left that night.
I was annoyed at first because we had a 7pm appointment and he didn't see us until 7:25. There was a family finalizing their seating charts (the room max is 140 and they have 160 ppl - YIKES!!!) and menu. But he did come out twice to apologize for the delay. I understood, considering their event was probably in a week or 2 and ours is a year away. But no one offered us coffee or anything to drink while we were waiting, which I thought was rude.
There were other things that annoyed me during those 25 minutes, which I don't want to get into on the board. But let's just say that the whole reason I was doubting the S.C. in the first place was because of the Banquet Manager I booked with. Well, that person was there again and talking to someone else about how 'relationships are so overrated.' Nice, very nice, considering there are couples all around who are planning a wedding.
So I met with Christian and he had the e-mail I sent him. Keep in mind after being delayed 25 minutes and after the conversation I overheard, I was really in a bad mood. With the first question I asked him, I got a 'I'm not sure, I'll have to check' I almost lost it. I had taken the time to write an e-mail 2 weeks in advance and set up an appointment to get my questions answered. I had called him earlier that day and left him a voicemail telling him about the e-mail and that I looked forward to meeting him. To find out that he didn't have an answer ready, well, I was ready to ask to speak to someone in charge and demand a deposit back.
But we kept going through the list, and Christian was really nice and had answers ready for almost everything else. He spend about an hour with us, and went over things and I could tell he really knew what he was talking about. Plus, there are thing that original BM told us were 'no problem', that he basically said they were unable to do.
I'm still miffed that I went through all the trouble to write that long e-mail and no one read it before we came. But I blame that on the people I spoke to on the phone and the people for whom the e-mail was intended - our original banquet manager who told me to send the e-mail then NEVER responded. I had to call a week later only to find out that this person was away for a few days.
So, now I am happy again about the whole thing because I realize my event is in good hands with Christian as our Maitre 'D. He even gave me his personal e-mail address in case we had any more questions.
i realize that I have very high expectations. I know that this post makes me come off as a bit of a snob. But I feel like when people are getting ready to shell out tens of thousands of dollars at your establishment, there is a level of customer service that is expected.
