Meeting with the officiant

Meeting with the officiant

My FMIL booked us an officiant and he would like to meet with FH and I. What kind of conversation usually goes on between you and your officiant 7 months before the wedding? I just want to be prepared when we meet him. Should I bring our hand ceremony sheet that we want to use and all of our ideas? Maybe I'm making this a bigger deal than it really is, but I have def heard people say that after their wedding, the realized that their officiant didn't do something they wanted to and I don't want that happening to us. What happend the first time you met your officiant?

Yes bring everything you want to show the officiant. He will most likely keep a file with all your information and wedding ideas. Also see how he responds to your ideas or if he would rather use his own readings. This first meeting is really to find out if you like this person, and if you can see him performing your ceremony. He will ask how you guys met and all that stuff too. My FH liked to ask the question how they got into their line of work and if they do anything else besides weddings. Our officiant works with the local police departments and military as their pastor. That's something I really liked about him.
HTH and good luck!

Re: Meeting with the officiant

we had no idea what to expect when we met with Paster April (she is a vendor on here) she was soooo nice and very easy to talk to ... she asked all the questions and we answered and gave our ideas when necassary ... she has already given us written vows she wrote .. so nice it brought a tear to fh and i eye
so that was my experience don't know if it helped but it was totally more relaxed & comfortable then i thought ....
