I am in favor of people seeing the movie but if it is as gorry as people say I think I would be uncomfortable. I am not big on seeing blood and all that in movies anyway, it has nothing to do with THIS movie. I don't think I can hack the imagery.
Do You think that poor woman had a heart attack because of the movie or was it just a coincidence?

I think it was a coincidence, and now the movie will get more flack because of it.
I still dont understand what the hoopla is all about

I am a member of another message board, and I wanted to post what someone wrote about the movie. This man is a Pastor... here's what he said. I really need to prepare myself for seeing it....
I am currently in shock.
Just saw 'The Passion of the Christ' with about 40 other Pastors.
Not only could I not sit still during the whole movie, I was sobbing throughout the last 3/4 of it. I was so fidgety because of what He went through.
I've only been to two movies in my life where the whole audience stayed through all the credits, this movie and Braveheart.
However, this time, during the credits, all you could hear were muffled sobs.
Do not take anyone younger than high school to see this movie. Not only will you come away with irreplaceable images in your mind, but you will be nauseous beyond measure.
It is a small price to pay.
I went to my car, shaking like a leaf, wondering if it was even safe to drive home. I waited for awhile.
I got in my car and broke into uncontrollable sobbing which I have not done since my dad died.
Through the entire movie, you feel the guilt of everyone involved, from the Pharisees and other religious leaders, the governor, King Herod, all the Jews, Peter, Judas all the Romans. But, at the end, you feel exonerated.
Warning to all non-believers on this board: Don't be surprised if most/all of the Christians on this board and elsewhere are more than sensitive than usual when it comes to jabs at Christ or Christianity.
My thoughts are disjointed because I am still reeling from the experience.
Wow - thanks for posting this! I am currently 'on the fence' about whether or not I want to see The Passion in the movies or wait until video. Yesterday, a priest at Ash Wednesday services commented on the violence and graphic detail of the movie. He said that [in his own belief] the film is controversial b/c it focuses ALL of the viewer's attention on the actual torture, pain and suffering that Christ went through, rather than the REASONS behind why he died for us. The priest basically felt that the violence was gratuitous, and that there should be more faith-based substance to the movie. Based upon everyone's comments so far, I can see how that could be true. But, I am still sooo intrigued to see it.

Re: MEl Gibson 'the Passion'
As a Catholic School teacher, this has been the topic of conversation this past week. I am not sure if I will go and see the movie. Although I consider myself a spiritual person, I am curious as to how Mel Gibson obtained the information for the movie. I also have a hard time balancing history, faith, and science. A few teachers saw the movie and could not even speak about it. They were beyond words. I going to let it simmer and then maybe see it next weekend. What have others thought?

I am def going to see this movie. I may not last through the whole thing, b/c of the graphicness (sp) of it, but I already know what happens. I just need to prepare myself for it. HAs anyone seen 'life is beautiful?' its not as graphic as Passion, but you will sob uncontrollably throughout the movie.

Ok, this is how it is.
It is very simple Mel Gibson put together a movie about Jesus of Nazareth's final 12 hours here on earth. Jesus was tortured and executed as a criminal. Now take into consideration that the people putting jesus thru this torture and death watched Gladiators battle to the death in arenas for fun, now imagine how'criminals' were treated. I don't think it was portrayed to be anymore gory than it actually was. JESUS WAS NOT EXECUTED IN TEXAS BY LETHAL INJECTION, it was a crucifiction, he was tortured and nailed to a cross. as far as people saying it was gratuitus violence - They must not have been reading the sub-titles. the message of the movie was very good for christians and maybe now christians will understand the sacrifice made. My view is that the sacrife made for his passion of us is what Gibson was trying to relate to the audience and he did an awesome job.
