Melissa - PJCC
Hi. I read some of your responses and see you are having your wedding at the PJCC. Have you ever been to a wedding there before? I booked it for next year, but the only thing sticking out in my head is that we were able to walk around when there was a wedding about to begin. I never got in the way of the bride, but I was a little turned off. Otherwise I loved it and I heard the food is really good. Anything you can tell me about your experience that will make me feel better would be great!

HI Melissa - I've never actually been to a wedding there myself, but many of my family members have and they said it is WONDERFUL!!! As far as walking around when another wedding is about to begin, we always walked around in the middle of the afternoon on a weekday, so I never saw another party about to happen when we visited. One of the things we really liked about PJCC was the fact that they only cater one affair at a time, so all of the attention really is on you and your party. As far as other consumers walking around, for me I don't think that I would even notice unless someone was being really rude/obnoxious, or if they were dressed in old ripped shorts and a 1982 Van Halen t-shirt or something. I'm anticipating many people mulling around before the wedding (waiters, bartenders, office staff, perhaps Steve himself, and maybe even a janitor or maintenance man). Hopefully most people visiting this facility will have the decency (like you did) to stay out of the way if an event is going on! I'll let you know how it is when we get back from there. Our wedding is in 5 weeks and 4 days! - Kim

Thank you so much. I feel better already. Is yours an evening reception? band or DJ? Did you get a valet? I was very impressed with Steve. My date isn't until 9/2002 so I have time.

Ours is a Sunday night wedding 6/24. We are using GIT as our DJ. We didn't get a valet for several reasons - 1 I didn't know it was an option and 2 - the parking lot is literally 10 feet from the front door. Not like the guests will have to walk far :-)

Hi! No I've never been to a wedding there, I've only heard things. All great reviews! I never though about anyone walking around before hand, hopefully if there is, they would be considerate enough not to bother anyone. I'll be so busy, that I probably wouldn't even notice. The valet parking is included, so we never thought not to have it. We using a DJ, Invitation to Dance, Rick as the MC. I got GITs demo tape but couldn't even compare it to Invitation to Dance demo tape. If you're interested, there are two bakeries you get to go to tastings of to pick which one you want. I've heard excellent things about how the cakes taste at Create A Cake in PJ. They're one of the bakeries. We haven't tasted anything yet, since our wedding is not until August 16, 2002, but they're very popular from what I've heard. Are you having your ceremony there? We are. If it doesn't rain it's out at the gazebo. Also, for flowers, I'm not sure who you're using or thinking of using, but the florist Malkmes on the list that was given to you by the Country Club, got very bad reviews by the girls on this board. The other Florist, James Cress, got excellent reviews, so we might be using them. That's all the info I have so far, when I get more or hear more I'll let you know. Also, Kim definitely let us know how things go! Good luck and have fun!

We had our reception at the PJCC last july. One thing we did not know we had until that night was a bridal assistant. Just letting you know for tipping purposes. Also Ellen from Create-a-Cake did a great job with cake. I would highly recommand using them.

Thanks for the info!!! Is there anything else you'd like to share about the place??? Good or bad. Also, I was just curious, the things they have going from the chandelier out in the middle of the room (I don't know what to call them) They're over the dance floor. Do they have lights in them that light up at night? On the web page they look like they light up. I guess they look like giant streamers, but a nice material?? I don't know what they are! :) Thanks again!

Yes, they are lights in tulle and it looks really nice. Other things I can tell you... I do not recommand Malkmes Florist. I used them because I had heard James Crest was a wedding factory. The first time I went to Malkmes I met with a young guy who was great. When I went back in May before the wedding to start finalizing things I dealt with the owner. He was horrible, but I felt it was to late to do anything about it. My flowers were not what I wanted and the centerpieces were wrong too. In their defense though they upgraded my centerpieces(they had roses). I have a feeling that they didn`t get the correct flowers in so they upgraded using what they had. Everything still looked fine and only I knew that it wasn`t what I wanted. A touchy subject has to to with underage drinking. We had a couple people under 21 and they started proofing some people. I understand that it is against the law but then why must I pay full price for anyone over the age of 13? Just something you may want to keep in mind. Other than that the PJCC was excellent. The food was great and so was the service. When we pulled up in the limo the Maitre D and Bridial Assistant were waiting for us with champange and told us they were ours for the night. We got married on July 4th so at 930 everyone was outside on the deck watching the Grucci fireworks. You wouldn`t believe how many people thought we paid to have them! If you have any questions I check the board often because my SIL is getting married soon and I always check PJCC posts!

Thanks very much for the info. I heard something about the underage drinking too. That's really stupid. We're having some underage people too, and I don't see why they can't have a couple of drinks. Oh, did you get married by the gazebo? And is there any good picture spots you can recommend? Also, I thought since it will be summer, do you think they have some kind of frozen drinks available? Just a thought. Thanks again. If I can think of anything else, I post it with your name!

We got married in church, but we took our pictures at the Miller Place Pond and at the PJCC. We do have some pictures in and near the gazebo. One nice shot was us on the bridge to the lower gazebo and the picture was taken from the deck so you can see the water behind us. We didn`t have a good sunset that night, but the photographer was hoping, but the fireworks pictures made up for it. As for the underage drinking they were basically like just sent someone of age up to the bar. Our photographer was very fimiliar with the PJCC and wanted to take pictures on the beach (you can access it just east of the PJCC) but we weren`t going to have the limo long enough so we didn`t get any pics on the beach. What is really nice is while we were taking pictures everyone was up on the deck as the cocktail hour started and they can see us and we felt like we weren`t missing anything..then we walked up the stairs to the cocktail hour. We never used the bridial suite. Also there is the possibility that there will be another party going on in the room for the cocktail hour after the time you would have used it. This happened in our case, but I would have never known it if I hadn`t seen a sign up in the lobby.

Hi Paula, I'm getting married at PJCC on July 5, 2002. Those fireworks sounds wonderful...I hope Grucci has some left for the night after. Anyway, I'm using Silk Iris in Miller Place for my flowers - Iris, the owner use to work for James Cress before she started her own business. Anyway, she only does one wedding a day - so why not make it yours!!! Her # is 631-744-2808 - her prices are middle of the road, but you can tell she loves her job!!

Paula: I remember PJCC saying that our fresh floral centerpieces are included in the price we pay, but I don't remember discussing the particulars. Do we go to one of the florists on their list to pick out what we want???? Can you give me any info on this? Thanks! - Kim

When we booked the Port Jeff, they didn't say anything about including centerpieces??? Maybe they don't do that anymore?

Melissa- When did you book it? We booked in January of 2000. The back of the brochure says that the wedding package includes fresh floral centerpieces for all guests tables as well as tapered 12 inch white candles on all guests tables. (I just double checked the brochure tonight - it's on there)

We booked it this February. Candles are included, but not any centerpieces that I know of. They must have changed it? Too bad, might of been able to save some money!

We used George Palikis (sp). He has his own studio in Rocky Point and owns his own company which does the developing. He has been around for 30 years and totally works of referals. He claims he gets enough business that way. He does advertise at Fantasia in Rocky Point. He has albums there..that is how we found him.

The deal for us was they were included if we used one of the two house florists. If you wanted to upgrade the centerpiece you did that through the florist. If we didn`t use the house florists then we would be credited $20 per table.Welcome New Vendors
