Re: Melting Pot update

I live and work near a Melting Pot in Whippany, NJ. I love it, BUT most of my friends and I agree it's only good for cheese and chocolate - not the real food menu.

FH and I did dinner there and it was like $150 for two and we spent the entire time cooking our own food obviously - it took us 3 hours and it was kinda gross. Like your boiling meat in soup broth. The salad was great though! I love the chocolate s'more and the beer cheddar fondues.

My traditional Italian family would NEVER agree to do a shower there. I envy you girls with modern families. I got turned down when I suggested a tea party :( Plus at a shower you like to mingle and chat and you're stuck cooking your food the entire time, unless there's a different menu for showers.

I think this is also a great spot for part of a bachelorette party.

3 hours? for just the dinner part? it took each thing a few minutes, i got the seafood so that cooks faster but even those that got meat it didnt take that long. Was the thing set on very low heat or something?

Re: Melting Pot update

It was over 2 hours from when we walked in til when we got to the car, it felt like forever. For some reason the meats cooked much slower and the veggies never softened up. Maybe it was just a bad experience. I've gone a few times for the cheese and chocolate and I bet the actual dinners which aren't fondue are awesome. It's a very cool experience though! I don't regret going. It just wan't really fun cooking the meats and veggies.

WOW 3 hours is a long time... we went to the one in Connecticut last weekend and we took 2 hours total with appetizer salad dinner and desert and drinks. i wonder why it took so long. We had steak, pork lobster and shrimp but, ours took a couple of minutes to cook.

I think you guys would have a great time if you do that! They have nice drinks and it seems like a girlie place. Don't ask me why. I guess I think of the pretty drinks and like CHOCOLATE is so girlie! It's a lot of fun. Just of course BOOK it in advance and look at the place beforehand. I'm not sure how they seat groups there since I've never gone with more than one person.
