Memoriam candle?

Memoriam candle?

My Grandmother passed away this week and I was very close to her and would like to do something small (nothing dramatic) to remember her on my wedding day. Something to kind of show that I know she is with us in spirit.

Is anyone doing something at the ceremony that would fit what I am explaining above?

I was thinking that maybe after communion we would put a small boquet of 6 white roses by the statue of Mary. I have also heard of people lighting a memorial candle before the ceremony. Not sure how this works. If we use a candle is it lit before I walk in?

Any ideas?

Thanks!

i too am going to do some sort of candle for my grandma...i am so sorry for your lost; i know how it feels. i just dont know where in the ceremony i am going to 'put it.' i think i am going to have the candle lit and then have the priest say something like...let it be a gentle reminder that her grandma is here throughout the ceremony....i dunno.

I think I am going to have a memorial candle lit before I walk down the isle. An altar boy can do it. That way the lit flame will symbolize my grandmothers presence.

Re: Memoriam candle?

I ordered a candle from Chandler's Candles and I put a poem on it for my brother:

Although we cannot see you
We know that you are here
Smiling down, watching over us
As we say “I DO”
Forever in our hearts
Forever in our lives
And so we say our vows
In loving memory of you,
Brian Patrick

I can't remember where I got the poem from, maybe a website or maybe from liweddings, but I loved it!
