Memory Candle

Memory Candle

I want to use a memory candle for my FH mother, but I am not sure when to use it. We are getting married in church and I was wondering do you use it instead of the unity candle? Or do I incorporate it into the ceremony and how?

a memory candle is used during the ceremony and usually lit before or in the very beginning of the ceremony. i'm using one and also having it lit on a table during the reception as well.

You don't always have to use it...Instead you can mention it in your program and then have it placed in a special location so guests know why it is there...We did that with a bouquet of flowers in a vase. It was a nice touch

We are getting married in a church too and priest told us it is lit and placed on the altar. Then we can bring to reception as well. (I got mine for FH mother)

My memory candle (for my mom) was lit at the very begining of our ceremony by the officiant. She said a few words about the symbolism of the candle and then invited all to remember loved ones who have also passed.
I requested that after the ceremony, the candle be placed on our table and lit again
