I was finally able to speak to FH about the whole gratuity vs service charge. I explained to him that the 15% was not a gratuity of but service charge.

FH: 'I really don't care what it is.'
Me: 'Okkkayyyyy.'

Then after a long silence...

FH: 'If we have some money left, maybe we will give them something.'
ME: 'Um, okay.'
FH: 'Let's see hour our money flow is. If we don't have enough, we will just tell them we will mail it to them and just forget to.'

Is he friggin kidding me?

WOW

Why is he so against it? I mean its like this... lets say a driver for a limo company is doing your wedding. The driver is NOT in charge of the 15% fee, the company as a whole is... so the poor driver doesnt get anything for being extra nice, courteous or anything?

They just don't get it. Don't feel bad - I still haven't told mine about the gratuities yet. I'm thinking of just handling it myself.

Sounds like you have a real stubborn partner. You should show him something about tipping etiquette. I'm sure there is something out there. If the service is bad, that's one thing, but to not tip for no given reason, that's just not right.

I feel bad for the people that will be working your wedding.

Good luck in trying to convince him.

I don't know why he is so set against it. When we go outto restaurants, he tips so well (between 15-20%). I don't understand his moodiness about tipping for the wedding.

I agree with you my FI is being carefull about every penny now it's my money that is paying for this so go figure.... I am not saying to lie but just to bent the truth a little bit
