Menu

I want to make the menus for the tables at my reception myself. Anyone have any suggestions on how to do this. I want them to look nice and elegant, but I don't want it to be so time consuming. I am going to have to make over 150 of these!!! Anyone have a template I can use? I have looked through past DIY's, but there is nothing really striking me. Any help would be much appreciated!

One more thing......what kind of paper should I use? I was at Staples tonight, and it is all regular sized paper, I guess I have to cut it in half..........so much work for a piece of paper that is going to be thrown out!! HaHa! It's just the way it is!!!

Re: Menu

I got regular size cardstock from Michaels - 8.5x11.
Then I went to Kinkos - they cut 100 sheets in half for me for $1.62!!!! I was so psyched!

Now I'm printing them out, which is taking a while, but it's worth it!

8 1/2 x 11 cardstock. Except I would print first and cut later. I haven't tackled menu's yet, but I tackled my DIY invites. I did all the printing and then cut afterwards. I happen to think it's easier this way and will do that for the menus. JMHO.

Are you making a menu for each person?

If you want to cut down on the time it will take to make them, you could put 3 on each table instead. This is how I've usually seen it done.

I've been to weddings where there is only 1 menu on the table and everyone just passed it around before the waiter/waitress came for your order. I think making one for every guest would be so much work and $$ in ink! I'm making one per table and putting them in picture frames.

Re: Menu

Here is a pic of my menu. I created 1 per person, although you can just create 1 per couple, or 1 per table.

I purchased 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock and plain paper. Kinko's printed the menu on the white paper and had very large margins. Then Kinkos cut each page according to the margins I created. I then glued the white paper to the cardstock! If you are interested in the template, FM me with your email address and I will send it to you from my home.

I originally wanted to do this, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to print 2 on a page the long way!
I'm finding it's not really that hard to print this way - I just set the paper size to 4.25x11.
I thought I might have to feed the paper in one sheet at a time, but so far I don't have to do that, so that's helping.

I used columns in order to print 2 or three things to a page. However, if doing it separately works for you and is less time consuming, then that's cool as well. There is more than one way to do things as long as we're happy at the end of the day, right??

Like Maddy said - it'll be a lot more time consuming to print two per page - you just have to use two text boxes. Here's what your setup on MS Word should look like:

If you still need help, FM me, and I'll send you a template.

Also - these were our menus:

If you FM me your email I will send my template. It was very easy and perfect size to be placed at each place setting tucked in napkin.

Thanks,
