Those of you doing menu's... if your hall offers a Vegeterian Entree, are you putting it on your menu?
I just called my hall and they said they will make a tower of vegetables atop Risotto for the Vegeterians and I said there would be 2-5 people getting the Vegeterian Entree.
Do you think I can include it on my menu as an option?
Thanks for any help / advice!!!

it may not be a good idea b/c if you told your hall 2-5 people are having it they may not have enough prepared if 12 people order it...

But how hard is it to make vegetables?
And I know they use the Risotto as a side to the fish and chicken, so I am sure there is more than enough of that prepared!

Ask your hall just to make sure it won't cause a problem...I think that more people than just veggie eaters might like it! Those with food allergies and those with restricted diets too...I would be worried about them not having enough prepared as well tho...I'm a planning freak- so that's just me!!

I am a vegetarian, and I would appreciate something like that. I always feel guilty asking for a veggie dish, if it was offered, right off the bat as an option, I would feel less awkward. JMO!

I agree with this. Before I had my menus printed, I called the hall and they specifically told me *not* to put the vegetarian option on the menu. They said that people who are vegetarian or have a restricted diet will generally ask the staff if there is an option for them. My banquet manager said that there might be a problem is more people than just the vegetarians asked for the special meal.
ETA: I only had 4 or 5 vegetarians attending, all friends of mine, so I just let them know ahead of time that there was a special dish for them

Thanks girls! I just called them and they sort of gave me a hard time about it but I mentioned they told me that I couldn't have the Chilean Sea Bass (my first choice fish) and instead had to go with the Tilapia, so I was hoping they could be a little accommodating with the other options on the menu.
I said, 'I mean, how hard can it be to grill some vegetables and throw them next to the rice which is already being prepared as a side dish'?
