My venue does not do menu cards, Do you feel it is necessary to have them?

Not necessary but they are nice to have. The alternative would be the waiter telling everyone what they have for entrees.

This and your guests not knowing what they will be served for appetizer/salad.

I think they are nice to have! I dont like the idea of the wait staf having to repeat over 100 tims what is on the menu! JMO!

If my venue was not providing them, I would want to make them, personally. They don't have to be one at each place. I've been to plenty of weddings with one or two very simple cards are on each table and people just pass it around. I also think it helps for people with allergies and things like that so they can see exactly what they will be getting. Might be worth it to make up something very very simple for each table, IMO.

That's true, you don't need to make one per plate

I did one per person. What I would suggest maybe you can do one per table if you like. Is a nice finishing touch.
I made my menus myself bough a nice paper at michaels, printed them myself and went to staples to get them cut evenly...all for like 20.00

My FH is a waiter n I know for sure the waiters would HATE repeating this over n over again... Plus u also have to remember, Some places have spanish waiter and No to say antyhing of my ppl but WE DO HAVE AN ACCENT! Including myself!!!!!! So sometimes it may be hard to pronounce OR UNDERSTAND what the waiter says!!!!
I think they are a must so ppl read....

Re: Menu Cards are they necessary
i only vote necessary because i feel like the last couple weddings i've gone to without menu cards on the table, when the waiter or waitress comes by they read off the choices so quickly its so difficult to undertsand plus its usually pretty loud in the room with music and people talking that i have no idea what the waiter just said and i usually will just say 'whatever the steak dish is i'll take that'
maybe just do one menu in a small 5x7 frame for each table
ETA: exactly what V said!! think about it accents + loud music + distracted people catching up and chatting with their tablemates + tired wait staff who dont want to keep repeating themselves = guests who have no clue what they just ordered.

Not necessary but does not have to be costly and adds a nice touch.
I designed mine myself and had vistaprint print it during one of their crazy deals...so for minimal cost it added a little extra to my day.

Yup. With that said, I am not making them! (but the RH does provide some)
