So we're having a 'cocktail-style' reception, where it's essentially a buffet but there will be a dozen tables set up all around the room, and the food will be open all evening so no waiting on lines or waiting for someone to tell your table you can get food. We are thrilled with this plan, but it makes writing a menu complicated. I saw an amazing idea, where they did a floorplan of the room and labeled the serving tables with what items are on it. But I can't find a picture of it anywhere to show my graphic designer BIL who is doing our stationary for us! Does anyone know what I'm talking about??

Re: Menu Floor Plan
We're also having a cocktail style reception and I decided not to do menus. For what you are looking for, will these be displayed on the tables? How do you know where the RH will be setting up each station?

Re: Menu Floor Plan
I've never seen it, but I think it's a great idea! I feel like if you draw out a sort of rough draft of what you want to your graphic designer she should be able to make you something unique that has all the information you want on it. :)

We want to do it so the older people don't have to walk around the whole room to figure out what they want. They can just ask a waiter to make them a plate. Also, we aren't doing programs at the ceremony so we want to use one side of our menus as a thank you to our friends and family. So we would have one at each place setting. But yeah, dunno how we would know what they are setting up at each table. Will have to ask the RH if they can tell us in advance, or at least follow the menu card during their set-up.

Crashing (sorry) I did this at my wedding a the watermill. I didn't do menus but you can just make a menu of everything you picked just so they know the choices :) my guests enjoyed walking around and they wound up getting the plates for the older guests. There was never a line :) feel free to fm me ifyou have any questions
