Re: Menu Tasting
We went to 2 places for tastings:
Fox Hollow - they paid our drinks and apps and we had to pay for the entrees and dessert... It came to about $60 and we tipped the waiter $15
Westbury Manor - The entire meal (drinks, app, entree and dessert) were paid for and we tipped $50

The tasting will be free since we booked with them. We also have our parents coming along. I I don't know the proper proticol and don't want to look cheap.

I used to work in the restaurant industry so that is why we tipped the way we did. Since you already booked with them they will already be making plenty of money from you but the tip will be going to the waiter/waitress... so depending on their service you can decide.
Try to think how much it would have costs in total and tip 20% from that... for example if you usually spend $40 a person when you go to dinner... ($40 x 6people =$240... 20% tip would be $48)
I hope this helps

Re: Menu Tasting
We just went to the CB food tasting and everything was free and the attendant was great. We tipped her $45 and I requested her as my bridal attendant for the day :)

Re: Menu Tasting
In a situation like Fox Hollow's you are actually eating dinner in the dining room - a formal restauarant and you should not stiff the waiter. You should tip on the full amount of the bill before comps - as you would in a bar where the bartender gave you free drinks or in a restauarant where you were comped. The waiter is still working for tips. If you don't get good service, I guess that's a different story, but I usually still tip at least 15%.
If you're doing a tasting where the food is presented to you only from a banquet manager/other person and not in a formal restauarant setting, then you don't need to tip - your tip will be the commision the sales person earns when if you book the hall.
