Meow passed away yesterday

Original post by nov04LIbride

As some of you know, my 16 year old cat was suffering from stomach cancer and passed away yesterday. I'm very sad, but glad he is no longer in pain or suffering. As for a logistical question, what do you do with the body? My husband tried to bury him but the ground is too frozen to dig (he died at home), and I do not just want to throw him out with the trash.

Beth, I'm so sorry

Do you have any lighter fluid? You can set the ground on fire and that will unfreeze it enough to bury him. I'm so sorry.

I'm so sorry... I know how hard it is to lose a pet

When my dog died growing up, my parents were adamant on burying him the backyard, but the ground was frozen. We brought the body to the vet, and they stored it in the freezer there until Spring, when the ground thawed. Call your vet and find out what your options are...

ohhhh poor kitty. I'm sorry Beth!!

ETA: We had a stray cat that lived outside our house die last year in the middle of the winter. My mom wrapped him up in a bag and put him in a cardboard box and taped it up. She left him in the backyard until the weather got warmer and buried him in our backyard.

I'm so sorry. I don't have any suggestions about the burial, but personally I would go with the cremation for mine.

So sorry to hear that. We had to put down our family cat last year and he was almost 17. After that long, they really do feel like members of the family.

Talk to your vet about burial/disposal options

May you be comforted as best as possible during this difficult time.
