Meow passed away yesterday

As some of you know, my 16 year old cat was suffering from stomach cancer and passed away yesterday. I'm very sad, but glad he is no longer in pain or suffering. As for a logistical question, what do you do with the body? My husband tried to bury him but the ground is too frozen to dig (he died at home), and I do not just want to throw him out with the trash.

I would call your vet and ask about burials.

As morbid as it sounds, I know people who kept pets in a freezer until the ground thawed.

Have you considered cremation?

Ugh, I don't know if I have room in my freezer or that we would want him sharing the freezer with our frozen foods.... Right now we have him outside on the porch, which is private and enclosed, but freezing. We were thinking no cremation...

call your vet...... maybe cremation..then when the weather is nicer you can bury him or sprinkle him in his favorite spot.

Cremation is always a good option, you can keep her remains in an urn somewhere in your home, maybe her favorite spot...or you can scatter the ashes somewhere that was special for the two of you.

Oh, I am so sorry Beth.

We lost one of our cats a few years ago, & chose to cremate her. It was actually nice the way they did it, eventually, we buried her cremains.
