Re: Merrick Info
I live in Merrick. Theres an amazing park on top of the garbage dump lol. Not as bad as it sounds. It has a fishing piere, kyacking (however that's spelt, brain fart) plenty of easy, medium and hard trails to walk up or bike ride up. Once you get to the top theres a man made lake with a little bridge, some benches and a windmill and an amazing view....you look out to see all of the houses on the water, a bit of manhatten etc....they also have a golf course....no dirt, they used chrushed shells which is something different and its FREE......for once something is with all the damn taxes people pay. The park is located on Merrick Road right by the meadowbrook pkwy. I forgot the name though, sorry....I can ask FH. Also in that same area there is a supermarket (forget which one but its big and new) plus there is a taco bell, wendys, mcdonalds, pastrami king, burger king, starbucks and wraps and such plus a sushi place. Not sure if you have pets but thees also a big pet supply store called muts and butts and the post office is over there. As for food stores ummmmm I'm not where in Merrick he is but theres a stop and shop on merrick ave near the train station and down merrick ave the other way in e. meadow there is a new waldbaums. There's a Walmart right next door in uniondale too. Merrick ave has a few take out places....Galleria Pizza (near SS pkwy) has the best pizza and it was just remodeled with a nice restaurant/bar area....theres a chinse place, subway and dunkin donuts on merrick ave in the shopping center by all the banks. Down Merrick ave towards the source mall area (past hemp. turnpike) is where theres a houlihans, fridays, target, bertuccis, home depot, chillies, amc movie theatre etc....and eisenhower park is right there as well (they have swimming, mini golf, parks, fountains, nature walks, concerts there etc...) On hempstead turnpike there is a friendlys, borellis, and nassau coliseum. Merrick Ave down by the train station has some bars...the crease bar and the M bar plus the outback steakhouse and carvel are over there. Theres also a good 99cent and up store over there to and a ralphs ices for the summer months. Hope that wasnt confusing and you find it helpful. If you have any questions feel free to FM me.

Re: Merrick Info
Wow! I was gonna give some ideas but I think TheFutureMrsFazio covered it all!
The Stop & Shop in Bellmore is better than the little one on Merrick/Hewlett Aves. (It's on Newbridge in Bellmore)
The Greek place on Merrick Ave has really good food (right across from Chatterton Elem. School)
I'd be more than happy to give you any more info if you'd like. Just FM me and let me know!

Re: Merrick Info
I don't know where he is in Merrick but I lived in S. Bellmore and my favorite pizza place was Stellas on Merrick Road. I also love Viva Loca for margaritas (food is good), Hunan Palace, Engs's (all of those are on Merrick Road), Picolo's on Sunrise Hwy in the King Kullen shopping center (that's a nice grocery store btw), and Star Fish is good too. Also, love Town Bagel for Breakfast and lunch.

Re: Merrick Info
SIL & BIL live in Merrick, we always go to RS Jones on Merrick Ave-great food & margarita's. Some of our favorites for take-out are Milo's, Santorini's, the Pitstop and the Great Wall. We house sit in the summer, it is a really nice town. The commute from the city is good. There are express trains in the morning and afternoon.

Re: Merrick Info
Merrick here too! FH an I have lived here for the past year an a half.
Definitely check out Trader Joes on merrick road. Similar prices to the Walbaums down the street, but IMO a better market. The nail place in the Walbaums plaza is amazing. It's called Green Nail. They're fantastic. For great Italian food, go to Brooklyn Cafe on Bedford ave in Bellmore. I LOVE them. For shopping, I usually wind up in the Sands plaza in Oceanside. A Gap, Victoria's Secret, Nine West, Express, and Ann Taylor in one place... what more do you need? FM me with any other questions!
ETA: If you need a hair place, check out Marje Salon on Merrick Ave. Ask for Cara or Yolanda.

I live in Merrick too. The above poster said it all, but I have to add Milos Pizzeria. The best pizza and italian food around. Also, lots of people like Rattle Snake Jones restaurant on Merrick Avenue.
