so i was never concerned about the whole Mexico violence issue when we booked our hm because i did a little browsing and right away realized that is really not anywhere near the tourist areas and definately not on the resorts whatsoever. basically in baja california, tijuana, the borders, etc.
but now again im hearing stuff....still dont think im worried but i was wondering what the rest of you thought?

My mom just told me that they said on the news they're not letting any Americans into Mexico right now because an American got killed in Acapulco on the beach. You might want to look into it just to be safe.

i just read about the Acapulco killings as well. Unfortunately unlike others very safe tourist areas, Acapulco is on the pacific coast which is a main route for drug trafficking. the killings although what is or once was considered a tourist area still had only to do with the drug trafficing as far as i read.
but it does concern me still because its not like acapulco is on the border of texas like where they said baiscally all of the violence was

interesting... i never thought about it to be honest. we are going on the eastern side of mexico so maybe that's not affected. we are staying at the excellence playa mujeres but i'll keep an eye out nearer to december.

Not really worried. I was reading up on my resort and it says that there are three security gates to go through before getting on the property.

I am going to Mexico my travel agent said its okay that there is alot of security and we have nothing to worry about. FH and I are going to Riviera Maya and we are staying at the El Dorado Royale.
