are any of you jewish brides doing it if you or fh are the last child to get married? if u did it or will be doing it, did you use flowers or just have people dance around the parents and kiss them?
FMIL asked me if we could include that b/c fh is the only (hence last) son to get married. i said yes.

We are going to do it (I am Jewish and the last to get married) and yes my florist is doing the crown of flowers for my parents.

Re: mezinke dance?
My parents claim they never heard of it. We are going to ask them again if they want it! They said No a few months ago.

Re: mezinke dance?
My parents hadn't heard of it until my MOH got married - her DH is an only child so they did the mezinke.
My florist offered to throw in the wreath for Mom and Dad, but their attitude was 'What, I married off one daughter - that's not such a big deal!'

Re: mezinke dance?
Wow, I'm half Jewish and never heard of this! Is it for the last of each gender to be married or youngest child?
I should ask my mom if she heard of it...

Re: mezinke dance?
So I just e-mailed my mom to ask, once again, if she wants to do this. She replied--definitely not. I don't think she has any plans to EVER be on the dance floor.
When she complained about having to stand under the chuppah because her feet might hurt, I told her about a girl from LIW whose mom is in a wheelchair and would give anything to stand under the chuppah!! (can't remember who but someone mentioned it).

Re: mezinke dance?
Even though I was the last to get married we didn't do it. Thinking back it would have been great, but I have no regrets.

Re: mezinke dance?
My parents have been planning this for years.
I don't understand exactly how to do it though...
1 - He's also the last child..so are his parents up there too?
2 - What exactly IS the dance?!?!

Re: mezinke dance?
We did it. The florist gave my parents the wreaths to wear on their heads. Everyone danced around them and came up to them and kissed them. It was really nice. The song is something like 'mazinka tants,' but my band knew what to do so I didn't actually have to think about that. After awhile, they switched to some other Jewish music, and people started forming their own little dance circles. It was actually one of my favorite parts of the wedding.
If you and your FH are both the last child to get married, then both sets of parents would sit there.
Mine was exactly like Jackie's. It was really nice. DH and I were the last to get married. I am an only child and his younger sister is married.

Re: mezinke dance?
I was doing some research and found that wreaths are only used when it's the last daughter getting married. If your fh/dh was the last, did u use wreaths, or no?
