I want to register at Michael C. Fina in Manhattan because I've found their selection of fine china to be extensive. My mother thinks that it's too inaccessible for our guests since they only have one store located in Manhattan. They do have a website and an 800 number for purchases in bridal registries. She thinks guests would like to go to the store and see what they're buying. My MOH however doesn't think it should make a difference whether they see the actual gifts or not since all they really have to do is purchase something within their price range. Any comments/ideas?
I think the problem is with Wedding Channel, not with Macy's. When I had spoken to Macy's early on, they said that the web site was all handled by Wedding Channel and they gave me their customer service number.
They've been having problems ever since Wedding Channel merged with Della Weddings - they've been promising to have the info all together for months but their web pages are still somewhat separate. When I complained that I could only view, not change, my registry on line, their only response was that they could not find a problem, yet I get error messages every time I try to access it to make a change. I'd have to agree, that Wedding Channel has lousy service and I don't plan to promote use of their on-line services for purchasing. I'll recommend to my guests that they can view and print the list, then go anywhere convenient to buy if they prefer. I'll deal with possible duplications if I have to.

You know your guests. What do you think they will do? Are the computer savvy people? Are they an older crowd? These are just a few of the factors to consider. I am registered at places that have on line ordering but I can guarantee that most people will want to go in the store. Especially my mothers friends who are older. Your MOH's opinion may not be the one shared by your guests who want to see in person what they are getting. Also, if people have to order their gift, there is more than likely an additional shipping charge. Just know your crowd when doing your registry otherwise you may be disappointed.
Its Karen - the woman who married Dana's cousin last March. You helped me buy my gown.

I plan on registering for my fine china and sterling silver at MCFina. For my everyday and kitchen stuff I'm registering at Crate & Barrel or Williams Sonoma.
I believe they DO have on line registry services. I think the only problem you would have is if this was your only registry because some people might not live in NYC or have a computer to look up the registry.

They guarantee shipment and will replace any item damaged during shipping. Most guests prefer not to hand deliver gifts and will have them shipped regardless of where they are purchased. I know someone who used Spitz and Peck for their flowers and as far as I know they didn't have any problems..but they said they were very expensive. I know nothing about Stefans...I was just curious as to where these two florists are located. I think it was a good idea checking into the better business bureau to find out about these places. I would have never thought to check into that. Allison
