Michael Moore

Re: Michael Moore

Was it me or were some people booing his speech?

Re: Michael Moore

A lot of people were booing him. There are a lot more conservatives in the entertainment industry than let on, it's just that the liberals there are the ones with the loudest and most annoying mouths.

I think this speech was a complete disgrace. Granted, we all have a right to say what we want, thankfully..blah blah...but a worldwide stage where OUR TROOPS and greatest enemies (all of which want us ALL DEAD..including Michael Moore) were to be watching is no place to call our Commander in Chief a terrorist. Michael Moore should go back to the hippie convention he came from.

Michael Moore has every right to state what he feels but the Oscars is not the correct forum for that. The Oscars is about entertainment not a political demonstration. Whether or not he agrees with the war or President Bush, everyone should be standing behind our troops and letting them know we are proud they are defending our country.

Just my 2 cents

I agree that he had the right to say what he said.

However, I find that he did it in BAD TASTE. All it did was make him look like a fool, rather than make people *think* which is what I am sure his goal was. There would have been a much more productive way to get his point across.

A few others mentioned the war, and I beleive everybody else was tasteful. Nobody else made any bold statements other than 'bring em home safe and quick'.

It was completely uncalled for. He looked like an idiot and I am so glad people boo'ed him off stage.

Why do the famous people feel it is necessary to jam their opinions down our throats. I don't get on here everyday and say 'I am a liberal but I support the war effort and our troops' in a thread about peeps.

I am getting so sick of the statements that the Hollywood crowd keeps making. It is like the latest fad in Hollywood - complain about the war. That is why I did not watch the awards last night.

I really like Michael Moore...and I didn't see what he said until this morning on the news...

I boycotted the Oscars, b/c I'm sick of these people getting up and congratulating themselves like they won the nobel peace prize...

as a society I think we should start publicizing awards to police, military, firemen, teachers, doctors, etc...

FH and I thought he was pathetic more for the reason that he gave the same EXACT speech verbatum the night before at the Independent Spirit Awards. I mean, really, if you're that opposed to it, come up with some new material.

Yabbobay I am all for publicizing the underpaid overworked teacher, firemen, police etc. awards and get the Oscars, Emmys, Grammys etc. off the air. One giant fashion show.

Re: Michael Moore

I think its funny that so many people were shocked by what he said, when if you have ever seen his documentaries you will see that this is what he does....he shows things and says things in a way that make people uncomfortable. I for one think it took some balls to stand up in front of millions of people and say that, as he did in the documentary he won the Oscar for- which was against the very powerful gun lobby. I do not agree with the timing of his statement, but as a liberal and a Democrat who voted for Gore, there is some truth there. We are fighting for the right of free speech- for the right of people to do exactly what he did. I may not agree for our reasons for going to war, but I support my president and my country- as well as everyone elses right to not support this war or our president.
