Microdermabrasion

I had my first microdermabrasion treatment done today and I really liked it! It didn't hurt at all and my skin feels smoother. I already notice more of a glow. I wanted to do it because i have a couple of small acne scars that i want gone by the wedding! i'm going to see how my skin feels/looks over the week and then i might start doing monthly or bimonthly treatments

How many sessions do you have to do and how much does it cost (if you don't mind me asking). I want to do it too!

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is effective in reducing fine lines, 'crow's feet,' age spots and acne scars. It stimulates the production of skin cells and collagen. It has proven to be a very popular nonsurgical cosmetic procedure; see current American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) statistics.

Technique:

The hand piece emits crystals onto the surface of the skin, resulting in a gentle abrasion or 'polishing' process. Each treatment takes from 30 minutes to an hour. The number of treatments recommended for maximal results can range between 5 and 12, spaced from 2 to 3 weeks apart. Maintenance of results requires periodic repeat treatments after the initial regimen is completed. Microdermabrasion may be combined with a light chemical peel to increase the effect.

Benefits:
Virtually no side effects.
Gives the skin an overall fresh, healthy-looking glow.
Nonsurgical, safe, effective 'lunch hour' procedure.
Effective on all skin colors and types.
No anesthetic required.
Excellent for skin sensitive to chemical procedures.
Normal activities can be resumed immediately.
Other Considerations:
Requires multiple sessions and maintenance treatments.
Patients with good skin tone will show best results.
An individualized skin care program may be recommended to maximize results.

I went to American Laser Center in Plainview (I get 20% off because I go there for laser hair removal) and if I decide to do it (which i think i will!) then it will be $550 for 12 sessions because they are having a special for the month of Feb. Normally, I believe it's a little bit more. I want to get rid of some acne scars on my face and am hoping this will work...i've heard of ppl using chemical peels too but that scares me

Re: Microdermabrasion

I'm doing glycolic peels at home (same reason) & found that to work better than microdermabrasion (it seems to work quicker). I've only done 3 peels and the wrinkle in my forehead is almost completely gone!
