i'm going for the first time to have this done on friday. i've never had acne all my life (except in 8th grade i had a really bad time with pimples on the forehead), but suddenly i'm getting a TON of pimples on the right cheek in the last nine months. i have no idea what to do or what is causing it, but they won't go away. i have a dermatologist appt friday morning and a micro derm facial at red door in woodbury on friday afternoon.
any advice? i'm kinda nervous...and excited

i dont think microdermabrasion leaves you red the way a chemical peel does.
So I will ask for one and not both, my face is soo sensative and my cheeks are red already. They specialize in that area, so I will see what they have to say about my face and what is best for me
yeah i mean talk to them and see what they suggest although to me doing a chemical peel and microdermabrasion at once is alot on your skin. Also find out what kind of peel they plan on doing for you, i dont think they mean a phenol peel with a microdermabrasion bc that would be too strong so who knows what they have in mind
I really don't see how healthy a chemical peel and microderm is together. That's a lot of removing of the top layer!
Microderm though doesn't really leave you red all that much. In essence, all it does is buff your skin so if it is red it's red for only a short time. So, by the time you get home you should be all fine.
glad im not the only one who thought this, i mean a chemical peel is so strong to begin with and to do micro after seems both painful and too strong

I didn't think they could do both at one time.
A chemical peel alone is certainly strong enough that your skin would need some time to heal I would think.

Re: microdermabrasion
Yayyyyyy I bought Eubos!!!
I bought it from
www.riedborn-apotheke.de/
They have a buton that transaltes the site into english and they take credit cards - the other sites wanted me to wire them the money!!!
I also bought it with my Amex so that, if there is a problem, I'm protected by Amex fraud. They reverse any charge that is no good without any hassle.
The shipping was like $30, but if this clears my skin, I will buy 800 gallons of it. I bought the red and the blue just in case.
I'll post a Eubos follow up after I get it and use it for a while!

Re: microdermabrasion
yea definately let us know about the Eubos....
I'm getting microderm next monday night at my dermo office (island dermotology)....
Just one question though ladies- what else can i do to clear my scars. I really would like the to not be as noticable for my wededing as they were in all the pics at my MOH's wedding....
Also- can anyone recommend a make-up artist that's really good for girls with bad skin- I don't even know where to start.....

the micro dermabrasion is good for removing scars, ask your derm about it bc if anything they can suggest to do a peel instead, but just be careful bc as mentioned in this thread you will get very red.

well they have glycolic and fruit peels that are ALOT lighter on your skin so ask about that...but definitely try the md first and see how that goes...good luck

I go to Island Dermatology! Which location?
The microderm is great at scars. Ask them what else they recommend--they might actually recommend a light peel depending on your skin and what you want to achieve.

Re: microdermabrasion
i was getting SO MANY breakouts after I turned 22 (what happend???)
my derma said sometimes girls go through 'late puberty' as far as their acne goes.
Anyway I couldnt find a cleanser that did anything except dry out my skin....until i found Cetaphil. I'm telling you this stuff is AMAZING!!!!... all of a sudden my face started getting clearer. i still get occasional breakouts but for everyday use I HIGHLY recommend this product. its a little expensive (about $12 for a bottle) but its worth it.
FH uses it too because he says its not girly like some of the other stuff i tried. haha.
good luck though on your microdermabrasion!!!
let us know how it turns out!!!

i use their moisturizer, cetaphil is great...its a non-comeodogenic cream so thats why, look for that when you buy any moisturize
