from what i know about this (friends of mine who have gotten it done) is that they basically get rid of your top layer of skin like im not sure how but they probably use a good scrub to get rid of all the dead cells, oil, etc. I wouldnt recommend getting it too close to your wedding or any special occ bc it tends to leave you irritated a while, like red or blotchy. I never had it done but this happened to my friend. It is really goood tho esp after a long summer of sun damage !

I use the Neutrogena microdermabrasion kitt at home maybe you could try that first. After a few days of using it I can see a big difference!!

Avon had a line called Anew Clinical. They have 'alternatives' to everything from microdermabrasion and chemical peels to botox. My mother used the one for botox for her forhead wrinkles and there was a noticeble difference. They always have sales. if you want me to find out any info fm me, my mom sells avon so she can prob get any info you may need.

I had micro done and I really didnt notice the diff after one treatment...to really see the effects I think you would need around 6 sessions. If you have sensitve skin I wouldnt recommend micro or any facial with less than 2 weeks before your wedding as your face will be red from the extractions. I had a glycolic peel done on my face yesterday and my face does look a little more fresh. Also go to a reputable spa to get them done so you know that it wont cause issues to your face.

my BF works in a spa and you are suppose to keep it up but I have gotten a few and not in a row and I thought it made my face glow. I wouldn't do it too close to your wedding though because you do get red depending on the sensitivity of your face but I think it is so worth it...it just takes all the dead skin off

I get it done all the time, but on my back not my face. You need to have it done a few times to notice the difference. But, I don't think I'd have it done to my face. Just IMO.

hi! i did some research about microdermabrasion because i was planning on having it done. there's a lot of OTC 'microdermabrasion' that can be bought at practically any drugstore but those are merely scrubbing the top layer of the skin. if you're referring to the clinical microdermabrasion, that goes even deeper.

you would need a pro in this because you don't want anything to happen to your face! my friend had hers done by one of those cheap spa in chinatown and her forehead got messed up - think big black mark! it cleared away eventually but it took a while. you definitely do NOT want that kind of mishap!

i've checked with my dermatologist and she does not recommend it for me because of my skin tone/type. maybe you should get a professional advice before doing anything? specially if your wedding is near.

Thats funny you posted this ? because I just had a free microdermabrasion trial yesterday! It doesn't hurt. I couldn't really see how it worked cuz i had goggles on but basically they put a cream on your face and then this little vaccum thing (at least thats what it felt like) blasts tiny crystals over the face which exfoliates the dead skin cells. I feel like my skin is def smoother and glows a bit...but there wasnt a major difference. I was told that you typically have to have 6 sessions for maximum results but because of money issues I dont see that happening lol HTH
