I have some dark acne scars and pit marks on my face. I was considering microdermabrasion but am concerned it won't give me the flawless skin I am looking for. Anyone do microdermabrasion? What are you going to do to ensure your skin is flawless for the big day?

You should consider fraxel laser options but find a very good doc for a consult. Have had many microdermabrasions and they brighten your completion, but don't go very deep. Lasers can really get to the layers below your damaged skin, but there is some down time and a few days(a week or so) of some red, unpleasant peeling. Dont listen to docs who tell you you will be fine in two days, they arent going deep enough. You must do it a few months before the ceremony so everything settles in with your new fresh skin. But wow, does its work. Get a good consult first. Source: I'm older and have no aversion to procedures!

I also have acne scarring & microdermabrasion will do nothing for deep pitted scarring. It may help your overall skin tone but def not smooth it out. I am getting laser treatments along with some other procedures & overall I'm very happy with my results so far but I still have a long way to go. FM if you have any questions!

Thanks girls. I am so nervous to do the laser but see how it could possibly be my only option. Does the micro help with shallow marks or not at all?

I am an office manager in a dermatology office. My Woodbury office has an aesthatician that is amazing. She is not a huge fan of microderm but does do it. She normally recommends chemical peels, for dark spots she can do ipl laser. One of my physicians also do abblative laser which is for scaring if you want FM me and I can give you more info. Consults are free

I have acne scarring too & micro's dont really work to get rid of the scars....and you have to do a lot of them for it to really work on brightening your skin tone. I have been getting laser treatments & chemical peels with Laser Cosmetica & it has been great! I heard about the fraxil peel but was too scared as ppl say it looks like you walked through a burning fire! ::Yikes:: but I will probably do it after the wedding as I'm getting married in July & wont have much time for my skin to settle.
***My makeup artist did recommend to stop all laser treatments 2 months before the wedding to reduce redness. She recommends a facial instead so I will be doing that....DOES ANYONE KNOW A GOOD PLACE FOR FACIALS?
