Hi, Does anyone else plan on changing their middle name to their current last name? I was thinking about doing this since my farther has no sons and one day the name will be completely lost :(
Do you know how to go about doing this? Is there some extra paper work I need to complete?

I did this. No extra ppwk involved. When you file for a new SS card, you will fill in your new middle name there. Just make sure to emphasize that this is a new MIDDLE name as well as last name so that they don't hyphenate it. Hope this helps!

i think i'll keep my middle name... i think it is more special to my dad then my last name. (since he calls me by my middle name, and that was his pick for my first name but he lost LOL)

I don't have a middle name and I'm keeping my maiden name and adding my FH's name with no hyphen so it will almost be like it is my middle name.

Did you discuss this with your parents? I do not have a middle name and I think I want to bring it up to my parents about making my maiden name my middle name because they wree the ones who chose for me not to have a middle name.

My farther was extemelly happy & surpised that I wanted to make this change. This was the name will carry on.

I considered it but my FH said I was being too feminist LOL! My mom did it 30 years ago, I told him. And he said 'Well she was a feminist hippie' LOL It was a big controversy...
