Poorly planned execution on my schools part other than that the kids thought it was pretty easy from what i hear

The sixth grade was the only one I looked at in detail, and I thought it was reasonable. The listening piece was pretty straightfoward, and it was also easier and shorter than the practices I have done with my kids.

I also did the fifth grade read aloud with a class (the homeroom teacher does math and asked me to do it) and I thought that was fair. The eighth grade was also better than previous ones (one year there was one on Renaissance cooking or something like that and it was a nightmare!)

My colleagues thought it was fair, overall. I will be scoring the sixth grade exams for my region (NYC) during the second week of Feb.

My FI said that on one of the questions the choices ABCD didn't correspond to the bubbles on the sheet that were HIJK or something like that!

I teach special ed. I gave that test to my students who are 3-4 grade levels below where they should be chronologically and I wonder how general ed kids do on them as a whole. I felt horrible about having to administer this test. It was very anxiety provoking for them because they knew they were having trouble. 'No child left behind' really bothers me sometimes. I had no choice - I was required to give them the test.

Yes - they messed up the 7th grade multiple choice section. Questions 18-22 had the wrong choices (FGHJ instead of ABCD).

Amazing that they are testing kids in grade 7 on their editing skills and the test itself was poorly edited!

I'll also be grading the grade 6 test.

The multiple choice section and the reading/writing section were definitely fair, but I'm not sure the listening section was.

The passage was short, but the essay question was a bit of a stretch. There was no clear answer. As we sat at our proctor meeting, all the 6th grade ELA teachers looked at each other and said, 'do you know the answer?' I must say, from the essays I read and from students I spoke to, they really did the best that they could with it!
