I have to know if anyone else is having this problem. My FH is completely oblivious on how to stick to a wedding budget. I have a strict budget and while I'm fine with going over on a few things it seems he thinks it's fine to go over on everything. We went over on our photo/video by $225 and he was like oh well that's not bad at all! I'm like do you know what a budget is for!!??!?!?!!?!? And since we're paying for the wedding all by ourselves $225 is a lot of money!!!Now he's talking about when we look at DJs he wants this and that and the other and I'm like this is not in our budget!!! And he gets mad at ME!!!!! Unbelievable! Sorry for the venting ladies!

It's hard to stick to a budget since weddings are so expensive and most people aren't familiar with prices. Maybe you can adjust your budget (if you go over on photo, take away from something else).

You're not alone, but I wish my FH was as nonchalant with our budget. LOL That's where most of our arguments originate lately. We are, fortunately, getting a great deal of financial help from my parents so I guess I'm not as stressed about budgets, but he is. For that reason I can't wait for the planning to done and paid for so that we can just sit back and enjoy this time in our lives. Good luck!

I wanted to kill FH on Monday over monetary issues. He got a new job an to 'celebrate' bought himself something he wanted for a while..
well when he found out he needed to pay off a car ticket on Monday, that he thought he had till Oct. 5 to pay - guess who he hit up for money.
I wanted to strangle him.

Oh that's great! Funny thing is that we had our meeting last night to review our FOCCUS results and for Finances we got 100%. We talk about finances all the time but it's still the biggest argument starter. ARG!

We never had a budget but we did want a photobooth so we didnt get a special car for us and just got a big SUV for everyone. Im very lucky that we dont fight about stuff like this cause even FH is very easy going and says if we have the money then we can do it. We are paying for everything in cash and paying most of it off before the wedding.

My FH actually just lost his job, so it has really put things in perspective for me. We should be able to still stick to our budget since we have been paying everything off and saving for a while now. We'll just have to tighten our belts a bit for the next 6 months. Don't fight with FH about money/your wedding. It's not worth it. Show him the budget and just tell him, if he wants to go over then that money is going to come from his extra spending money and he has to be ready to pay for it upfront. This usually stops FH when he's talking about going over budget on something.

I would love to know what goes through my FH's head sometime in terms of money. It doesn't come from thin air.
His response - if I tell him we can't spend that, we're trying to save - he calls me 'the Jew of the relationship' ((no offense meant to others, sorry!)
He brought me a dozen roses yesterday with his paycheck to try to make up to me... ugh.

I sort of have opposite issue..FH is pretty convinced that you can plan a wedding from the 99cent store. He thinks that centerpieces couldn't possibly cost more than $10 a table..lol..It is so annoying but he sort of lets me do my own thing as long as we don't go over our agreed overall budget. We actually haven't booked a photog because he thinks the entire industry is a scam; we stopped talking about it when I suggested I could hire one to take pictures at his funeral.

MEN!!! MY FH gets all the costs but doesn't understand why we need this & that. Thankfully he listens to me! We don't have a budget but I know we are getting good deals cos my sister's getting married in November & did all the vendor research for me & now I may go with her vendors! Plus the DJ we are getting from FH's brother-in-law's company so a nice discount!and the photographer is someone FH's cousin knows & my sister booked too so there's another discount!
