Ladies I just want to tell all thank you and I really appreciate you guys and LIW. I am a try believer in God and I know He is going to work it out. If this wedding was meant to be then it will be. As long as we get married that is what matters. I believe in my heart that we are to have the wedding we desire. We both worked and waited to long to find people that not only love us, appreciate, adore, honor and so on. W e are not going to let anything get in our way. What we are going to do is take all the children off. I have a lot of nieces and nephews and I really wanted all of them there but it can't happen. But, that's the only thing we are going to do for right now.
Ladies I will keep you all posted. God Bless

Re: Might not be a wedding!!!!!
i am so sorry to hear that. Trust me i understand i am 21 and so is FH... and we are footing the whole bill ourselves. We tought we would be getting some help but doesnt seem to look up right now. Although i did look into having our wedding at the local fire house. (or VFW) In the long run it is much much cheaper. You get a caterer and you have no alcohol (cutting costs) and you party with all your friends and family. There is no pay per person. Go to your fav. local restaurants and see if they will cater for you. And It could be just as fun. If having all the people that love you around you for that day!....I think it is so sweet of you to think of your children first. My parents have always done that for me and my brother and they have done nothing but sacrifice for us over the years and they will never know how much i appreciate that and im sure if your kids knew what you were doing so that they could have everything they want they would appriciate everything your doing! look up we are all here to help! Good luck!!

Re: Might not be a wedding!!!!!
I'm so sorry you are feeling sad about all this. But the girls are right, there are so many brides who have had beautiful weddings filled with all their close family and friends and it didn't cost anywhere near $30,000. Brentwood CC is one, I think West Sayville CC (Meadow's Edge?) is another, Woodbury CC has had great deals for non-Saturday, non-summer weddings.... not sure where you are located.
Take a look at this recent post for example, many brides are spending way less than $30,000. click here
You could FM them, or just look at their profile to get some ideas of places to call.
And I would think Westbury Manor would work with you to try to refund most if not all of your deposit. Tell them the LIW girls are going to picket if they don't!
All best wishes to you, keep us posted!

Re: Might not be a wedding!!!!!
You know what, think about the bright side YOu found someone that you love, loves you and want to spend your lives together
My parents got married at city hall 37 years ago - no engagement ring, no wedding - just LOVE - they still hold hands and watch TV together
I know how you must be feeling and the truth is that everyone dreams of 'their big day' but the two of you have healthy children and love for each other
HTH??

Re: Might not be a wedding!!!!!
I would cut the guest list and have it at a less expensive hall-possibly the Riviera-it's soooo pretty or even have a back yard wedding.

Re: Might not be a wedding!!!!!
Aww I am sorry. Maybe if you have it in an off month like nov-march you can get a better deal. Or cut back on invites too. this way you can still have it at wm. You can do it!! All you have to do is cut back in some areas that people wouldn't even notice. Like with the flowers. Go with candels instead and put rose peatles around. There are many ways you can stick to your budget. Or even getting a part-time job. I was thinking about doing that. Hope everything works out!!!

Re: Might not be a wedding!!!!!
I wish u all the best with everything! I hope you can figure something out that will make you happy!!!! I think anything is possible...just keep your spirits up and everything will come together. I understand your situation as a parent, because my single mom had to sacrifice for me as I was growing up! its tough!
You said you were already doing an off day, but would you consider an off month? Instead of booking a traditional hall...maybe look into smaller rooms or renting a restaurant? other have also posted places like a cultural or community center in the town that u can inexpensively decorate? how about buffet style vs. the sit down dinner?
have the ceremony outdoors and/or at someone's house? and just use candles instead of flowers? and then instead of hiring someone for music, ask a friend to dj and give them a playlist? i hope these suggestions are helpful!

Re: Might not be a wedding!!!!!
Like you said Stephenie, if it's meant to be, it's meant to be - but it wouldn't hurt if you guys gave it a little kick in the butt (I agree with the other girls who recommended the BCC - it's beautiful and inexpensive)... Good luck honey!!!

Re: Might not be a wedding!!!!!
Have you considered a destination wedding...I know someplaces in the DR or even Vegas you can do soup to nuts for about $15K...esp if u go off season...
Also remember, you will make some $$ back from the wedding...def not all of it, but u will make some back. There's 1,001 ways to cut corners also, silk flowers instead of real ones, buffet instead of sit down, student photographer or friend instead of professional, DIY invitations and centerpieces, drive yourselves instead of limos, DJ instead of a band- or just bring in a cd player/ Ipod and speakers...make ur own playlist...DON'T CANCEL YOUR WEDDING!!!...you've waited for this and u deserve it!!! Good luck honey!!!

Re: Might not be a wedding!!!!!
aw...I'm so sorry. What about if you had it at a cheaper hall with fewer people..or a different season (off peak is much cheaper) or have you ever thought of a backyard wedding (that is if its feasible)?
