I had a doosy last night. I wrapped my head in icepacks and went to sleep in a dark room. What do you girls do when you get them? There's got to be a better way than numbing my head.

I used to get them a lot and got prescribed zomig, then i got my eyes checked out and was getting them cause i needed contacts. try the eye doc

i acutally have pain medication for when i get migraines...best thing to do is just lay down in a dark quiet room and let it wear off

Basically that's what I do when I get them. I take a codeine if I have one around to try to make me pass out. I feel for ya! Hope you are feeling better. nothing worse than a migraine IMO

I am so surprised so many girls suffer from migraines. I do too. I take Relpax or Imitrex.
I was on Topomax as a preventitive and I went crazy. I did NOT like that stuff. I only liked that it made me have no appetite! I also had a migraine last night...but it was partially alcohol induced..

I might have had the WORST migraine I have ever had in my life last night to the point that my prescription meds (Relpax) didn't even work.
I finally fell asleep and when I woke up 4 hours later it hurt even more. I swear I thought I was going to have an anurism.
I finally feel better but now I have that left over feeling that makes you feel like you are on drugs.
So obviously I have no answers for you, but can feel your pain
It was a bad one! I finally felt a little bit of relief, but then woke up again at 7 and it felt like half of my head was hanging off!! Terrible!!

i get the WORST migraines, but luckily my last one was on christmas (lucky that its been so long, not lucky it was on xmas). I always get an aura beforehand so I know it's coming. I either lose peripheral vision or everything looks mirage-like, kinda like youre looking through gasoline vapors. scary stuff. NOTHING works for me, med wise. ive been on fioricet, relpax, imitrex, zomig...etc. i just lay down and let it run it's course. im lucky that mine dont last 72hours. they usually last about 8 hours, but im unlucky that they make me SO sick, i cant be more than 20 ft from the bathroom.
anyway - the only thing that works it SLEEP, too bad thats kinda hard to do when it feels like someones pounding your skull with a hammer over and over and over again for 8 hours...

I get them really bad. My last one lasted 6 days! I go to a chiropractor and also take a prescription. Also, try acupuncture.

i have a friend that gets them really bad and her doctor recommend botox..it freezez something up there that stops them..and she hasnt had one since she got it done..and she used to get like 3 a week

Excedrin Tension/or Migraine is the best medication around IMO. I also use ice and have my FH rub my head. They stink, I actually have a slight one today (from the sucky weather)

excedrine migraine works better then the rx I got from my doctor. For me the key is to take it as soon as its coming on. I hate them and I get them often specially during that oine time each month when we are so lucky to be ladies

perscriptions never worked well with me (either took too long or gave me really weird side effects).... so i use excedrine migraine and it does wonders for me!

Relpax and sleep.
It totally fukcs with your sense of taste and gives you the craziest feeling in your jaw while it's working it's magic, but it works!
I would seriously head to the Dr. to get some sort of Rx.

Wow thats weird to hear! I was on Relpax for awhile and I never had any side effects like that!

i swear by Relpax. i get them pretty bad. actually for me it starts working within an hour. i even feel like a new person. i have more energy etc. i had no side effects at all.
i feel for you. its no picinc. i just lay down in a dark room with an ice pack on my head.
i highly recommend relpax. unfortunately none of the OTC stuff helps me. i hate it when FH says to me oh you have a 'headache'. there is a big difference between migraine & a headache. i would take the headache.
