Has anyone attended a Military type wedding. My FH is a Marine and his uniform is navy blue with red strips in the pants with a white hat, belt, and gloves. If anyone could help me find pictures of what colors the wedding party should wt would be greatly appreciated. Oh by the way out of the 6 groomsmen only 2 are in the service too so they will be wearing their uniforms. What should the other four wear?

Re: Military Wedding
I was in an Air Force Military wedding. The groom was the only one in uniform. The girls wore dark green and the guys wore tuxes.
Sorry don't have any pics

Re: Military Wedding
Oh ok that's cool. I was thinking of having the girls wear a red dress to match the strips on his uniform and they'll carry a white bouquet of roses. I had to change the color of my dress from ivory to white to match the the hat, belt and gloves. The only problem is the rest of the groomsmen. I was thinking of putting them in black tuxes but have them wear a light shade of gold to match the medals thats on his uniforms. What do you think? Someone told me to get navy blue tuxes. Do they even make that?

Re: Military Wedding
Could the other GM just wear tuxes to keep things a bit even, or maybe just the BM? I only say that because then you may have more options for BM dresses. I'm sure this is becoming an ever increasing question. Do you have a tux place yet? In this case any specialty tux store should be able to help you. I would not rely on the chains to answer this question. FH and I went to After Hours twice and it was staffed with a 17 year old kid (only employee) on a Saturday.
I have a great tuxedo store. MY brother had used them at least 7 or 8 times and all of his friends. FM me if you want more info.
Yes, they do make navy blue tuxes but not all places may have them or at least in as great of a selection.

Re: Military Wedding
My FH is a Merchant Marine, he'll be wearing his uniform, 6 out of 7 of the ushers have uniforms but they are going to wear tuxes. I thought in pictures it might look to uneven and strange.

Re: Military Wedding
My brother, who is a Marine just got married after Thanksgiving. We wore a claret red dress with silver shoes. The GM were going to wear navy blue tuxes but they are impossible to find so they wore black with blue vests. It was a very beautiful color combination. My brother did not wear the blood stripe on his pants though. Are you having an honor guard?

Re: Military Wedding
No because they are going to apart of the group that forms the arch with the swords. I already picked what my the BM dresses and they so happened to be red lol. No i haven't picked a tux place yet my FH is currently in Iraq He told me that when he gets back that he'll handle that so I'm leaving that to him. Sure I would like to know more info on the tux store it would probably help when he comes back in March.

Re: Military Wedding
That's why we figured for the pictures it will be us in the center and the two GM in uniforms will be at the end so that the others can blend in the middle.

He's a reservist but has been on active duty since May of this year. He is stationed actually in Brooklyn at Floyd Bennet Field.

Do you have any pictures of his wedding by any chance?

Re: Military Wedding
My brother started there but transferred to Amityville I think 5 or 6 years ago.
I will add your FH to my list of prayers. We still have family serving in Iraq and a new Marine who will most likely be sent after completing his training.
We are so proud of all these guys!!!
The best of everything to you both!!!!!

Re: Military Wedding
I will download my dad's photo's tonight and send them to you. It was so beautiful and emotional as you can imagine. He had the honor guard in church, they were stationed down the isle. He walked in with my mom and dad and bestman, then the GM's and BM's walked in. We all passed by these Marines in full dress, OH it was something. I love a guy in uniform.
They also used the guard at the reception hall, watch out though because they will most likely give you the smack with the swords as you pass by them . My SIL was not ready for that one.

Re: Military Wedding
I'm a having a military wedding and have been to a ton, former officer myself with a lot of servicemember buddies. Usually a standard tux looks good with all Class A or AA uniforms. I have seen Navy Summer Dress Whites with the white dinner jacket tuxes, but I don't think that applies here. A friend married a Marine and his best man was a civilian who wore a classic black tux, and it looked great with all the uniforms. I'll try and find a picture for you.
