MILLERIDGE BRIDES
I have a question for those who used another florist besides the milleridge florist- I already booked with another florist and met with the milleridge florist the other day to see what they would offer me (just out of curiosity)-they were almost 1,000 more for the same thing I was already getting-my question is how did you handle using your free flowers when you used another florist- I have no idea what to say to them when I go back I kind of feel bad telling them im not using them after they were so nice and helpful.
What did everyone do with the bubble vases and dais piece they give you in the package
Also which dishes did you pick for the entree
Thanks

Re: MILLERIDGE BRIDES
I did use their florist, but I almost didn't, so I asked mybnaquetmanager. They said they still give you free flowers. They can put them on the coctail tables or on in the Cottage there were other option, but I amnot familiar with them.YOu don't reallyhave to go back to them.the banquet office willask youif youareusing their florist or not.
For entrees, I had, the Salmon with Holdandaise Sauce, Chateau Briand with Bordelaise Sauce& Chicken with Champagne sauce (that's new)
All were excellent.
Iahd the salmon ast the tasting, the beef asmy entree at the wedding & tasted my mom's chicken.

Re: MILLERIDGE BRIDES
They are super nice & proffesional, I don't think it is a problem. I thik you modtly deal with the banquet office anyway & they will tell the florist the color.

Re: MILLERIDGE BRIDES
Thanks for the info. I probably won't be using Milleridge's florist because they were really short with me when I called them. They wouldn't even speak with me about an estimate and they told me maybe they'd have time to meet with me in January. Yes, January. Since you said they were $1,000 more than others, I probably won't even bother with them again. My BM said if you use someone else for your centerpieces, you can spend the credit on bigger CH flowers or decorations for the space. The day I saw the cottage, the bride had tulle on the staircase and bar, which looked beautiful.
Tourist, how was the champagne chicken?

Re: MILLERIDGE BRIDES
the chicken was delish! It was simple, but the sauce was tasty & herby. The florist is really busy, they were always ncie to me, just once I could tell they were really distracted, but it was a Friday & they said they were busy with that day's weddings & they'd call back Tuesday& they did.
They were actaully less$ than the first one I went to, but I know other places areless expensive. I just really liked them.

Re: MILLERIDGE BRIDES
the reason i booked with another florist is because when i was went there in june they told me to come back in october- which i thought was strange- they did end up being really nice and helpful just more than what i was already paying-they wanted 175.00 to decorate the stairway with just tulle- and i dont belive that covered the bar area-
i didnt know they had champage chicken as an option- i will have to inquire about that one
thanks

Re: MILLERIDGE BRIDES
I didn't use the Milleridge florist, but I was still entitled to something like 16 dozen roses!I sure as heck weren't going to let those go to waste! LOL
So I went to meet with them (they weren't the nicest crew, but whatever... ) and I had them use the 16 dozen roses on:
--the top of my cake, (I think it was like 3 doz)
--petals around the cake
-- and I had them make 2 HUGE arrangements for the fireplace... and let me tell you-- the arrangements were just STUNNING!!!! I had purple and ivory, and they did an amazing job. I was very impressed and my mother & MIL each took one of them home because they loved it so much. I wish I had a good pic to show you guys. But I'm SO glad I went to cash in on my roses!!!
I had my florist decorate the staircase & the bar, and he did it for free!
My menu was the spinach crepe for the app. chicken franchese, chateau briand and the sole. Then the ice cream for dessert. Everything was SOOOOOOO good!
FYI- I went to a wedding after mine, they had the chicken courdon bleu... it was DRY. I didn't like it at all.

Re: MILLERIDGE BRIDES
The chicken with champagne sauce is new, they only mentioned it to me when I was finalizing my menu.It is simple, like a white white & herb sauce.
I wanted something simple, because usually the chicken eaters are picky.
Cheryl, I 'm surprised you didn't the the florist was nice.
I think it depends on who you get & how busy they are when you get them( I know, know excuse.. .)
You can also bring in your own tulle & candles& things & giveit to the banquet office with your favors & placecards & they will decorate.
We were going to bring tulle, but decided against it.
In the Carriage house, there are 2 small mantles, I hade flowers on each & my own candles on the fireplace one.
I don't have any good pictures of those yet , but they were similar to my centerpiecs& beautiful.

I had such chicken issues. I would have skipped it & gotten the 2 fishes, but some people only eat chicken.
The Kievev, I didn't really like at the tasting, but that's what we were going with.
I didn't want duck, the hen was ok, but it had a weird raisin sauce, I didn't want cordon blue, b/c it has ham & like I said some people ONLY eat chicken,
But then at the menu palnning she said they had other options that were new.
So, don't stress, they will work with you.

Not sure, since I was in the Carraige House, but that may be better, So you don't have to relay all the info to the BM who then tells the event staff. There was a little misundestanding with mine, but I was there early & they fixed it.
With more area to decorate, there may be more chance for error.

Candles and flower arrangements together look amazing. I had a line of candles and the 2 large rose arrangements... it looked incredible.
I wish I had a scanner to scan my pics!

Re: MILLERIDGE BRIDES
Ugh. I feel sometimes like I am getting 'had.' When FH and I started booking, we thought having all the vendors (well, bakery and florist) on site was so convenient and we'd be foolish not to use them. We had no issues w/ the florist b/c my friend got married in May and said her flowers came to the same price and that was comparable, so we didn't even look elsewhere (one less thing to have to worry about). I also have only had great experiences w/ them - friendly welcomes on phone and in person, food to take home, etc. However, now I feel like I could've saved big, although I know...if we liked them and they're comparable, why beat myself up? My one worry all along has been their baker. My folks went to a wedding there on 10/10 and their cake was dry. We got one small cake done by them to taste a filling and it was ok. We're getting another one this Sat., after we meet w/ Nadine to go over the menu. Thanks so much for letting me know about this champagne chix. Everyone's tastes are different, so I guess we'll just have to have faith in our choices... Sorry this is so long. I can be a worry wart!

Re: MILLERIDGE BRIDES
I got to have a little bit of my cake. I thoguht it was good. We chose chocolate cake, which I think in most cases is less dry. I haven't heard too much about the cake from gests though. The Swan cream puffs were good though, so I think a lot of people were too stuffed for the cake!Welcome New Vendors
