Mini Engagement Party Review
My parents & FFIL threw us an engagement party luncheon.Theme- Penguins :) I am obsessed with all things penguins & figured since the party was in January, what theme could be better then penguins.
Hair & Make Up- Kimmy @ Shear Heaven in Bellmore. I have been going to Kimmy for years. Every time I go there I love the outcome. She did my hair & make up & will be using her for the Big Day
Invitations, table numbers, and place cards- etsy vendor perfectlywhimsical. Great vendor, good communication. She sent the files & I had it printed at staples. I found staples to be slightly expensive but it was close to home so I just went with it. I probably could have saved some money here had I shopped around for a different printing service. (photos in album)
Engagement Banner- etsy vendor TishieMDesigns- Liz was a pleasure to work with. She sent me proofs quickly and had some great ideas. I loved the finished product & the price was right! I will absolutely be using her for details for the wedding. (photos in album)
Restaurant- La Famiglia in Plainview. I don't even know where to start. Sal was great to work with. The food was amazing. We did a family style lunch & every single thing that came out was excellent. People were calling my house the next day just to rave about the food and service. The waitstaff were amazing. Kind, attentive, funny, overall excellent. People were raving about the service. I would recommend La Famiglia to anyone. I cant wait to go back for dinner. The only complaint was it was beer & wine and supposedly some people were under the impression it was open bar. The restaurant ran a tab like we asked them to, but some people said the waiters said it was open bar, though it was just beer & wine. I am not sure if that was true or a misunderstanding, but we did end up with almost a $400 bar tab. My parents didn't really care because everything else was so great, but it did happen so I figured I should mention it.
Favors, Decor, Candy Bar- Me (with help from bridal party) For favors I made hot chocolate cones, I bought the supplies from restaurant depot, I filled pastry cones with hot chocolate, white & dark choc. chips, and marshmallows. Tied them off with a favor tag & red ribbon. Everyone loved them & were cost effective. I also bought different glass jars & filled them with red & black candy to go with the theme. I bought the candy scoops at BarBoy for a great price also. I also bought small black bags and turned them into penguins, using white, orange, and black cardstock, to hold the candy. (pics in album)
The centerpieces alternated each table. Every other table had a penguin cookie jar and the other had red flowers from Tim's Florist in Massapequa. Gail was the owner who worked with me. She was very personable, and I didn't feel like she was trying to get me to spend more money then I budgeted. I would definitely recommend & will go back there. (pics in album)
Our cake was made by Nadias Dolci ([email protected]) http://www.nadiasdolci.com/index.html Let me just tell you, this cake was beyond my expectations. Nadia was a pleasure to work with, great communication and nailed my vision to a T. My mom is already thinking of the cake she wants to have her make for the bridal shower. The cake was so delicious. It was canoli cream cake, so fresh. I am not a cake person & actually ate two slices. (pics in album)
Overall it was a great day. Hope this helps you ladies!
