mini-get away

mini-get away

Hey girls,
FH is coming home from Texas for good after 6 months of being away. His flight lands at 5 on Sat and this sounds a bit crazy, but I want to do something that feels like we are away on vacation with just each other for Sat night and Sunday so that we can reconnect after all these months apart. Time is limited so I'm looking for places/activities that are no more than an hour and a half from NYC. Oh, and I'm still recovering from hip surgery so nothing athletic.
Ideas??? TIA

How about a bed and breakfast near some wineries?

would you consider staying in a hotel in NYC? DH and I have done this and it was fun, either ordering room service and spending the day in bed. Theres even spas at some hotels and you can get massages. Maybe go out to eat somewhere real nice nearby.

Hmmm ok this is about 1 1/2-2 hours away but we've stayed at Skytop in the poconos, the place is beautiful. Its on 5500 acres of land has its own lake, ski area, many activites there you can check out on their site. You can either stay at the lodge, looks like a mansion, the inn which has real nice cozy rooms and balconies, or private cabins. They also provide shuttle and can take you from one location to another, always came right away when we called and wanted to go to the lodge for example. Also remember when seeing the price that it not only includes the room but 3 meals a day. The restaurants are nice and great food. Website is www.skytop.com

I know a couple that went to CT for the weekend and stayed at some spa type place, sorry cant remember the name grrrr. Or one time my friend went to CT stayed at a hotel and went to the wineries in CT.

We have friends that lived up there, the hotel is great the restaurant has awesome food and a GREAT view, it's not too far away, and there are some wineries and if you go a little further you can go to Rhinebeck where there is some great shopping,
Edited because I said wineries twice!!!

If it is in your budget I would def do a weekend in manhattan. FH and I did it once and we stayed at the warwick, it was super fancy, and we had the best time!
